I am going to be getting a puppy in August, and have been avidly researching all aspects of dog ownership. My puppy will be collected from her breeder unvaccinated, and as I live in a town, with parks and woodlands full of other dog owners, I want to have my puppy vaccinated (I personally believe vaccination to be essential, but I know a number of people do not vaccinate because of the risks of complications).
I know though that with vaccinations there are risks involved. I did read, however, that giving your puppy a reduced dose of vitamin B (i think something like 1/3 of the recommended human dosage) begun a few days before vaccination takes place, and continued for a few days afterwards, can help to reduce the risks of complications brought about by vaccinations, and can reduce associated sickness. Is this true, and if so, does anyone have any experience of adminstering vitamin B in connection with vaccination? I am only asking as a novice, and have found this board a realy welath of advice, and would greatly appreciate people's experiences, partly from the vast number of experienced and caring owners and breeders who regularly visit this site.
Thank you.
The homeopathy route sounds really interesting. Would I have to contact a homeopathist who specialised in dogs, or can any homeopathist advise? If anyone has any further information/links/contact details regarding homeopathy and puppy vaccinations, I would very much appreciate it!
Yes, I am a huge Pratchett fan!
