showings dogs is like being back at school. i.e. playground squabbles , bullies, and spin doctors is`t it time for change before ladies and gentleman. richard

Like being at school it is only the minority that squable and are like sily children.  Most of us have great fun and enjoy chatting to people.  Maybe you should try it and get in with the right kind of people I've always loved showing and can't be bothered if I get a first, I just enjoy meeting old and new people.

I have'nt seen any squables but you do hear the odd dissgruntled remark when what exhibitors might consider a good dog is beaten by what they might consider and inferior one.  Mostly people are there having fun and meeting old friends and making new ones.  The people I have met have been wonderful and helpful with lots of tips to offer.  In our group, the people are very much like the dogs that own them - Beardies - need I say more.

Well I've just got back from judging today as a late replacement judge & all the exhibitors I judges were not in the least bitch child like & we had a lovely if very tiring day I had forgotten exactly how tiring obedience is to judge

Never had any problems at shows & I have met some lovely friends.

I dont even care if I win or not anymore (allthough that would be a bonus ;-) ) as I like talking to other people about dogs!

I have to admit that I personally have found the show people to be so friendly and helpfull.  Me being one of them of course :D  Seriously though, when I first started out, I did not know what to do or which way to turn, the amount of help and guidance I have come across both from within my breed and from many others has been tremendous. Any criticism I did receive was constructive and well meant and I used it to my advantage :D :D

hi richard,
if your new to the show scene ,you will soon realize that yes some people can be childish and need to go back to school and learn some manners, hopefully you'll find some people in your breed that are there to have fun and socialize without being negative and bitchy. we've seen it all people slagging other peoples dogs off ,getting miffed because they get beat by a better dog ,my advice is to stay well clear of these type's of people and just enjoy your dogs.
