Hi,
I'm new to this forum and i just wanted to post a quick question and to say hi.
ok,when i scratch my dog in particular places such as her belly or back her leg thumps,i know alot of dogs do this, but i'm not sure why! My dog has slight contact allergies and is itchy in the above mentioned places and i'm wondering if this has something to do with it?
Does anyone have any theories?
I hope my post makes sense, this is my first question(been lurking for ages) and i'm a nervous nelly!

Hi nervous Nelly :D :D Welcome to the forum :)
As far as I know, almost ALL dogs have the tickle reflex that you mention ...rather like us jerking when someone knocks a certain place on our knee :)

I guess "nervous nelly" is better than frodo! All the usernames i wanted were taken:( There was a wildlife show on the tele when i was registering and there was an ape they called "frodo" so i punched that in and here i am.
Can someone please point me in the direction of where i can find out how to do smilies etc.
many thanks.
Hi Frodo and welcome to the site.
The smilies are called emoticons and there is a thread which explains really well how to do them, I think it is in Idle chat or Foo. Have a look. What dog/s do you have? Need some juicy details :-D

Thanks tigerlily(cute name) i found the thread under foo,topic-smilley.I now have a bit of paper stuck on my computer with an "emoticon list" as long as my arm,i'll never remember them all :D
I have 2 boxers..kiki,2 years and dudley,3 years.I have 2 kids a boy and girl,aged 10 and 13. I belong to a few other doggy websites,but this is by far the biggest

Thank-you all so much for your warm welcome,i'm not so nervous anymore!
Hi there Frodo or nervous Nelly! All of my dogs do this particularly when you scratch their backs. It makes their tail wag like mad and their legs bend so much that they nearly fall over!! :D Some people think that it helps you bond with you dog and when their legs thump up and down that they are just trying to help you find the right spot! :D Anyway welcome to the forum!

Oh yes, Bailey stretches his out so much and straight!!! you could use it for drawing straight lines lol :D
Megan used to stretch out both her legs if you tickled her tummy, and if you progressed to the stifle the muscles would tighten and legs were straight out (tart) :D :D

Perfectly normal. and welcome :D

Welcome to the board Frodo. I`m another boxer owner 1 boy & 1 girl, look forward to chatting.
