How to Potty Train Your Puppy
In as Little as... 7 Days!
INTRODUCTION
I would just like to say thank you for investing your money in How to
Potty Train Your Puppy...in 7 Days. This book will most definitely
change your life for the better!
We both know that training your puppy to relieve itself in the proper
area, will make your life a whole lot easier.
Not to mention cleaner!
In the following pages this book will teach you everything you will need
to know about house training your puppy.
The techniques in the following pages have been used by some of the
worlds best dog trainers, this is why you can expect results!
I know that once you follow the simple steps that you will read in this
book, you will be able to fully potty train your puppy in less than one
week!
The First, and I believe the most important thing to remember when
house training your puppy is that you cannot under any circumstances
hit your animal after they have had an accident.
Your puppy doesn't know they did anything wrong, this is the main
reason you are training your puppy. Your puppy will learn, this is
because they want to please you in every way possible.

No matter how hard it is to believe an untrained puppy is the owners
fault. When you thought about getting a puppy im sure you thought
about all the responsibility.
You now can pat yourself on the back, because you have taken the first
step in becoming a responsible guardian of your puppy.
Your puppy's age has an important role in determining how fast he or
she will learn how to become housetrained.
You are the teacher and your puppy is the student.
Think about training your puppy like this, you wouldn't expect a four
year old to open a book and immediately start reading it.
This is true with your puppy as well, when your puppy is less than 10
weeks old it will be more difficult to train him or her. This is because
your puppy lacks the basic life skills it takes to control their bowl
functions.
However, don't ever be discouraged your puppy loves you and wants to
do everything it can to make you happy. This includes not urinating on
your thousand dollar couch!
In time I believe any puppy can be house trained, in all cases it takes a
different amount of time. The amount of time not only depends on your
puppy but it also depends on your dedication to teaching your puppy.
I said before that you are your puppy's teacher and your puppy is the
student. If the person who taught you to tie your shoes was very caring,
understanding, and patient with you im sure you would have had a
much easier time learning how.

HOW PUPPIES CHOOSE WHERE TO GO
When puppy's are born they move away from their brothers and sisters
to relieve themselves.
Your puppy doesn't want to relieve themself in an area that he or she
frequently occupies.
You will harness this drive that they already have to make them go
outside instead of on your living room floor.

THINGS YOU WILL NEED
There are several things that you really need to purchase in order to
properly house train your beloved puppy.
THE CRATE
One of these items is a kennel or a 'crate' this makes it possible to put
your animal in an area where they cannot break, eat, or any other form
of destruction we both know they are capable of doing when put in the
correct situation.
This is key because YOU are responsible for your puppy's activity's,
not the other way around.
THE LEASH & COLLAR
The leash and collar are key items that you MUST purchase in order to
properly train your puppy.
This will become more important later, if you wish to train your puppy
more extensively.
Remember to be a good teacher don't just stop after teaching your
puppy addition, your puppy has the ability to learn geometry so why not
allow it to!
A dog that is obedient and smart is a valuable asset to you and your
family!

SUMMARY OF NECESSITIES
Let's summarize you will need five basic items besides food and water:
1.) Leash
2.) Collar
3.) Kennel (or a 'crate')
4.) Dedication
5.) Plenty of love!

THE PUPPY'S CRATE
Let's talk about your puppy's crate, cage, kennel, or whatever else you
may be using.
Dog's are cave animals they love dark places that they know they are
safe in. In a crate your animal feels safer sleeping than it does sleeping
on your bed.
In the crate your puppy knows that its back is protected, which gives
him that extra piece of mind that no one is going to sneak up on them.
You will notice that your puppy will frequently walk in and out, maybe
even lay in the crate when it is open. I suggest always leaving the crate
open so your puppy doesn't feel like it's a bad place.
Putting your cute little puppy in their crate isn't cruel and unusual
punishment. They grow to love being in an environment they know
their safe in.
CRATE SIZE
When you pick out the size of your puppy's crate you should make sure
that it is BIG ENOUGH for your puppy to stand up in without touching
the top, as well as large enough for he or she turn around in.
However, it is also possible to get a crate that is too BIG.
IF YOUR CRATE IS TOO BIG
If your crate is too large, don't worry lassie doesn't have to go to the
pound! You can simply place a sturdy cardboard box in the crate so that
your puppy has just enough room to be comfortable, and not enough
room to have accidents.

CRATE ALTERNATIVES
Some people don't wish to "confine" their puppy's this is ok too, I have
had several puppy's in my life and when I got my first one I wanted to
sleep with her every night.
I never put her in a cage and she turned out to be just fine. I simply
closed off a room in the house and made it her new home. I put several
of her favorite toys in the room, as well as her food and water when it
was feeding time.
As you may be learning there are too many ways to list that you can
train your puppy. Your task is finding the ones that work best for you
to complete your goal of having the perfect puppy!

USING YOUR PUPPY'S MENTALITY
I spoke earlier about puppy's not wanting to relieve themselves in areas
that they are frequently in.
This is true in the crate as well if your puppy feels it can be far enough
away from its comfort zone to relieve him or her self they will! This is
very easily prevented by getting a proper sized crate.
WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DO
A lot of the training that you will give your puppy is common sense.
What makes your dog have to go poop?
 The food that it eats of course!
STOP THE POOP
Stop your puppy from relieving themselves on the nice carpet in your
house by simply taking your puppy out twenty to twenty-five minutes
after her or she eats.
Well unfortunately more than just poop comes out of your puppy. Your
puppy also has to pee CONSTANTLY puppies can basically pee every
time they are taking outside, if you believe your puppy has to go, take
them OUTSIDE!
It's better to have a false alarm, than It is to use a whole roll of paper
towels cleaning up their mess!

Page 13
STOP THE PEE
When your puppy drinks water they have to relieve themselves
approximately fifteen minutes later.
If you take these two steps you will most certainly be well on your way:
1.) Twenty to twenty five minutes after food take the puppy outside!
2.) Fifteen minutes after drinking water take the puppy outside!
OTHER REASONS FOR ACCIDENTS
There are a few other reasons your puppy might pee unexpectedly.
When people come over to visit your puppy may get EXCITED.
I know that my dog gets very excited when any of her 'friends' come
over. Your puppy my just relieve themselves on the ground because
they are happy, maybe this is some sort of puppy sensory overload!
Also your puppy may make an unexpected leak when SCARED.
If someone jumps out and scares your puppy you may be in for a wet
surprise!
Just keep in mind that your puppy isn't doing these things to spite you,
they are animals and should be treated in such a way.

SPEAK PUPPY LANGUAGE
Your puppy has several ways of telling you that he or she needs to go
outside.
When your puppy goes outside they smell the ground to find an area
where they feel is suitable to go.
This can be an area where another dog went, they will go here to claim
territory.
When and I mean WHEN your puppy has an accident you have to be
sure to use some sort of deodorizer that you can find at your local pet
store, this is key, because if there is a scent of urine on your carpet your
puppy will know.
NEVER clean carpet with ammonia because your puppy's urine
contains ammonia which will make him or her go crazy and want to pee
all over your newly cleaned carpet.
When you see your puppy walking around the house smelling the carpet
TAKE THE PUPPY OUTSIDE!
Once your puppy gets the hang of it he or she will WHINE as well, this
can sometimes be humorous!
The dog I currently have will walk into whatever room I'm in and whine
LOUDLY, this means she has to go outside.

TIMED FEEDING/WATERING
Another simple but rarely used method of house training is to feed your
puppy on a schedule.
If you wake up at 8am every day.
 Feed your puppy then as well.
You will know exactly when they will have to go to the bathroom when
you use this method! Something that you may have thought to be
priceless prior to reading this book!
I will tell you what my dog does every morning for example!
When I take her out at 6am she walks to a certain tree and pees, then we
walk down the street and she goes poop at least once in my neighbors
yard, and remember to be courteous of your neighbors!
WHEN TO GIVE TREATS
When you take your puppy outside to relieve themselves you may give
them a treat every once in a while just don't make it a normal thing.
Too many treats can cause your puppy's poop to be very soft, this is
unhealthy and should be avoided at all costs.

FIRST THING IN THE MORNING
When your puppy first gets up in the morning you MUST take them out
no matter what they have to go BAD!
If you use all the methods that I have explained to you, you will be able
to predict when your puppy will have to go outside.
Feed your puppy three times a day so that their little bones and muscles
can develop properly.

Page 17
PRAISE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING
Once your puppy goes outside and does their business PRAISE
THEM.
Act excited even if you look crazy to your neighbors "Good girl, Good
job!" im sure you can use your imagination.
Praise is the one thing I believe most people don't concentrate on.
your puppy focus's on your tone of voice and when you sound happy
and excited they react positively.
When you use a deep or harsh voice your puppy hears this, you
intimidate them. They believe you are angry with them when you speak
in this way.
However, on the other end of the spectrum. When you speak softly and
act excited and happy, your puppy thinks you are proud of them and this
is the best thing they could ever feel.
Praising your puppy is better than giving them a whole box of milk
bones, they strive to make you happy. This is why you shall use this in
their training.

Page 18
ALWAYS SUPERVISE
I must stress another VERY important point, your puppy is like a new
born child you cannot let them leave your side.
Simply by doing this you will probably stop accidents altogether! If you
are watching TV they are too, etc.
If you aren't able to watch the puppy, say you're at work or you ran
outside to grab the newspaper.
Put the puppy in their crate, they will become accustomed to this and
wont think anything of it.
I Know that you will be a good teacher, you are halfway down the road
to success!
PATIENCE IS KEY
Just remember like I said be patient, understanding, and loving. If you
can do this failure is not an option for your puppy!

FAQ SECTION
Question:
Why doesn't my puppy seem to be learning these techniques?
Answer:
All puppies mature at a different rate, you cannot expect success until
the four to five month stage.
Question:
My Puppy is five months+ and I am still not seeing results what can I do
to speed up the process?
Answer:
You should be feeding and watering your puppy on a consistent
schedule. If this still does not help take your puppy outside more
frequently. Also remember the two most important times for your
puppy to go outside, after they wake up, and before they go to sleep.

I assume you have permission under copyright to reproduce all that?

Also it suggests that, as well as feeding to a schedule, watering is also done to time. This is wrong - a dog should have free access to fresh water at all times, especially one fed dried food.
