I am interested in finding a breeder for these gorgeous looking dogs (preferably in the south of UK) - does anyone know of someone who breeds these?  Many thanks.  Whitesnakewoman@aol.com

Labradors come in three colours only , Yellow, Black or Liver (chocolate).

Hi guest, I think what Kayc is meaning to say is that the "white" you are looking for is a very pale yellow lab, almost a creamy colour. I am sure someone will come along and point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Thank you Tigerlily, but I did not mean that at all, I simply stated the true Labrador colours whatever their intesity.

I give up. :-D

I'm sure that the people who first got into this breed and bred the wonderful yellows would hate to see the wishy washy colours that are out there now, same with the GOLDEN retriever !!
- By Tigerlily [gb] Date 10.04.05 13:47 UTC
That maybe true but there must be other people out there who like the "wishy washy" colours as you put it, and obviously the OP is one of them. We all have different tastes otherwise we would not be individuals. I hope owners of the paler yellow labs don't take offence to what you just said, because I would have if I owned one.

Dont give up Tigerlily, I dont bite, well hardly ever :D  But I am very protective of my chosen Breed.  If a decision has been made by any future owner of the breed and any semblance of research has been made into the breed before purchasing then they should a least be aware of what colours they come in, if nothing else.  They do not come in 'golden', 'white' or 'silver' or any other colour than has been stated in my previous post.

I understand Kayc, it sounded a bit harsh that's all, but I completely understand where you are coming from. No worries, friends? :-D

Not a problem Tigerlily ;)

Just looked at your photos of your dogs, they are lovely. Love the one of the mum with her 3 black pups! Bless. :-)

Thank you Tigerlily, but dare I say it, one of those 'black' pups is a very nice dark chocolate lol :D

Sorry! (blushing now) Maybe my computer didn't show their true colours. I do apologise.xxx
- By kayc [gb] Date 10.04.05 14:35 UTC
Actually, Tigerlilly I have just had a look at that photo again, and I can see where you think they are all black. :)  They were only 3 days old when this photo was taken.  I kept Little Ellie, the only black bitch of the litter. It's hard to believe that she was 7months old on the 7th of April.

Do you want to see my baby? Bit different from a lab but I think he is gorgeous in his unique way.xxx

Yes please, although Labs are my passion I am a general dog lover at heart, my e-mail is shown under my username, fire away :D

<I'm sure that the people who first got into this breed and bred the wonderful yellows would hate to see the wishy washy colours that are out there now, same with the GOLDEN retriever !!>

Standard of Golden Retriever:

"Any shade of gold or cream, neither red nor mahogany. A few white hairs on chest only permissible."

This is the KC standard. Pale gold and cream Goldens have been around since the early days of the breed, or do you know better than the breed historians?

Well said Snomaes, I wish I had that ammo when I tried to have my say! Lets hope they think about what they said and maybe, heavens forbid, apologise. :-)
- By kayc [gb] Date 10.04.05 20:11 UTC
Sorry, I will not apologise for stating the correct colourings in Labs.

The Labrador Retriever coat colours are black, yellow and liver (chocolate).  Any other colour or a combination of colors is not acceptable.  A small white spot on the chest is permissible, but not desirable.

Yellow-Yellows:  may range in colour from fox-red to light cream, with variations in shading on the ears, back, and underparts of the dog.

No where in the breed standard does it mention white, silver or any other colour

That was not aimed at you kayc it was aimed at perrodeagua for saying about the paler ones being "wishy washy" which I thought was very unfair and unkind to all those owners out there with paler labs. Read up the posts to see what we are on about, definately didn't mean you. Hope that clears it up Kay :-)
