I have an 18 week old pup - who wees when greeted by anyone whether it be when she is out for walks or anyone coming to the house.  I think she must be excited but it is becoming very annoying especially as she is weeing on visitors shoes etc and then trying to jump up on them with wee paws.  Please help.

It could be in part excitement or it may be a submissive gesture - good news is that whichever it is she will ougrow it but it will take some effort and patience on your part  :)
If over excitement then make sure that no-one over fusses her when she meets them, inside or outside of the house.  Ask visitors to completely ignore her on entering, you can then take her calmly outside to empty her bladder and then quietly introduce her to the room they are in - but request they don't invite her over to be fussed or even talk to her.  After a few minutes when she is sufficiently settled they can then calmy say hello, but keep things low key.  When outside, ask others you meet if they too will not immediately fuss her - try and chat to them yourself for a few minutes before they make any attempt to greet her.
One thing I'd stress is important is that you don't tell her off *at all* - just try and ignore the accidents & clean them up thoroughly with biological washing powder to remove the scent.  It may take a little time to resolve but it's actually quite a common problem with pups - it will be easier though if you can identify the cause as being either excitement or submissiveness.  HTH, regards Teri :)

As usual, Teri, you are on hand with wonderful advice.  I am sure there are many people who visit these boards with worries and concerns who are calmed and assured by your responses.  I, for one, am very grateful you are around!

"Lennon time" in 50 minutes BTW :) :D

Our 17 week old HWV does this and at the moment I'm not too worried as I'm assured he WILL grow out of it :D Just keep him away from peoples shoes, or keep people who don't like a bit of puppy wee away from him!!!!
Another thing we do is to have people bend down to his level if they want to fuss him, it can be very scary having a huge, unfamiliar and noisy person looming over you :D

Mines 10 mths and only just stopped it - most of the time! I certainly wouldn't worry about it in a little pup. :-)
