I HAVE A 2.5 YEAR OLD BITCH OR WAS MATED ON THE 14TH DAY . I HAD TAKEN HER TO THE VETS FOR A PRE MATE AND THIS WAS THE DAY SHE WAS FOUND TO BE READY, SHE WAS MATED WITH A PROVEN STUD DOG OR HAS FATHERED LOTS OF PUPPIES BEFORE ! WE HAD A TIED MATING THAT LASTED FOR 25 MINS  NOT SURE IF THIS IS GOOD OR NOT ? SHE IS NOW ON DAY 19 (POST MATING) AND APART FROM A FEW SUBTLE CHANGES IS MORE OR LESS NO DIFFERENT.THE CHANGES WE HAVE NOTICED ARE , CLINGY  ESP WITH MYSELF SHES NEVER FAR FROM MY FEET! , SHE SEEMS TO HAVE GOT A LITTLE BROADER ACROSS HER BACK , AND THE LAST 2 DAYS HAS NOT ATE ANY OF HER FOOD BUT IS WILLING TO FEED ANY TITBITS WE WILL HAND FEED HER , ALSO WE HAVE HAD A FEW NIGHT TIME ACCIDENTS AS WELL, MILLIE IS FIT AND WELL BUT VERY QUITE . I WOULD LIKE OTHERS OPIONS IF YOU THINK SHE MAY WELL BE PREGNANT. WORTH NOTING MILLIE HAS HAD 2 PHANTOM PREGNACYS BEFORE , BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SHE HAS BEEN MATED,
- By SharonM Date 06.04.05 20:38 UTC
Well the signs sound promising, but as she's had phantoms before I wouldn't like to say.  First signs I get are the rib cage widening, very sleepy, off their food, I do measure their tummies on day of mating, then start weekly from 4 weeks onwards.

You could always take her to the vet around 28 days they should be able to tell you then.  But she is giving signs of being in whelp..............I've never experienced a phantom before with any of my girls, so don't know what the similarities are.

Good luck!

Sounds hopeful to me. My girl tends  to have a bit of 'Morning Sickness' too. Good Luck at the vets. Let us know how she does.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY  ELLIE229 , SOMEDAYS I FEEL REALLY HOPEFUL AND THEN OTHER DAYS I FEEL IT HAS NOT WORKED I WILL LET YOU KNOW OF COURSE, WHAT BREED OF DOG HAVE YOU GOT?
- By SharonM Date 09.04.05 08:35 UTC
I've had a few litters in the past and I always get the 'is she isn't she' time............even now day 33, I still get my doubting days, which is silly as she's grown 6" around her tummy.........lol.

Good luck to both of you!

millie was mated on the 20 th of march ,my vet thought this tuesday would be the best day for a scan , your scan is booked for later , do  you think my vet will see anything ? (you do hear of vets trying to make more money out of us caring dog owners ) although i have no reason to doubt our vet what advise were you given ?
thanks

My girls are normally scanned day 28, so far had positive results every time.  Not sure about measurements Millies Mum, I measure on the day of mating, then not again until day 28, then once a week from there on.  My girl has been off her food now for around 10 days, tummy getting bigger, nipples LOTS bigger as she was a maiden bitch it notices more.

My vet has an old scanning machine, but if your vet has a modern up to date one, I'm sure it is fine from day 21+

Good luck, let us know how you get on!

thanks sharonm will do , just checked millie there is only slight change in teat colour still same size , her privates are still "puffy" not gone down to pre-season size she  has still not eaten much of her food but will happily take bits of our food, do you think if i give her some fresh chicken to tempt her will that be a good idea or not?
- By SharonM Date 09.04.05 12:08 UTC
I've tried everything, chicken wings, raw chicken breast, minced steak, minced beef, tripe, scrambled egg, beef & heart, you name it, I've tried it!  We just find something she does like, then the next day she won't touch it again......lol.  She did actually eat some sausages yesterday, so every little helps........I do leave Burns canine extra down just incase she decides to give it a go.

My very first litter, my Rosie stopped eating altogether from day 20 right up to the day she whelped!  I was worried but my vet said she was fine, we bought tins of the 'expensive' food from the vet, but she wouldn't touch that either.

Just see what she fancies and offer her a little!
