Okay I have two questions which I need help with please before I make a mistake on my only schedule.
First; I have a pup 11 months old. I want to enter a mixed open show there is a class for my breed ie Staffords but for Junior, PG and Open no class for puppies.
However I though I would enter my Pup in Junior (in breed) as she is 11 months old at the time of the show. Also there is a avnsc terrier which has a class for Puppy. Thought I would enter her in that as she is a puppy and its good experience. Am I right? and if for arguements sake (this won't happen) she wins in Junior - or she is only beaten by a dog who should be in Junior ie 12-18 months when they pick me up off the floor - is she eligible to go for Best Puppy? And if thats the case should I then enter ANVSC terrier puppy?
Stage two of my question what the hell is a stakes class they have Puppy in that what is it??? I want to get her used to other breeds etc but what is a stakes class and what criteria do you need to enter
There is puppy stakes gundog,hound,terrier.
Sorry to sound dim but I am ;)

You cannot enter any AVNSC class if there is any breed classes at the show(in KC terms the breed is classified at the show so your dog is not eligible for AV Not Separately Classified puppy) , if there was an AV Terrier pupy class you could enter that & not enter the breed classes at all
If you are not beaten by another puppy in the Junior class then you would be eligible fot Best Puppy in Breed & if the show is on a group system you would also be eligible for Best Puppy in Group or if the show is not run on group system Best Puppy in Show
But if you got best puppy in breed and went on to showing in the AV puppy class and got beat then you wouldn't be able to enter BPIS :d You could withdraw from going in the AV classes though if you won BP in breed.

What show are you entering her for?
:)
Hello Kazz,
we took Busta to Kent County Canine Association when he was only 6 and a half months old and he was entered in Junior as there was no puppy class. We were just hoping to get him placed with the 'bigger dogs' but he went 1st in Junior BPD and BPIB then he went on to win the group too so it can happen to a puppy in a junior class. You can't enter AVNSC as there is a breed for SBT's so they are a classified dog. Something like an Irish Terrier or a Swdish Vallhund is usually in AVNSC as they are numerically low breeds. You can enter AV Puppy or AV Puppy Terrier though but you must have competed in your own bred first. Unless a puppy is placed before her in Junior then you are automatically best puppy in breed even if you don't get placed at all in Junior unless another puppy doesn't get placed at all and then you will have to challenge them for BPIB. ( I know its all sounds very confusing but read it a few times and it will make sense )

The stakes class is for any breed (unless classified as Terrier Stakes, Gundog stakes etc). It is a good way to get your puppy with oyher breeds. You can withdraw if you get BPIB, although quite often the stakes judge is also the BIS judge. Be warned, the classes can be big and is usually judged quite late on - sometimes after BIS.

Thanks Fillis long time no speak. Every time I see your name I am reminded of Dizzy's SharPei pup of the same name. How are you?

Last time we spoke she was fine. She's had a litter and kept a pup back. Very nice.
Glad to hear you are well.
