my bitch was mated 19 days ago can any one tell me if it is considered to be safe or not to take her away in the caravan this weekend? i want to do what is best for her and not take any chances so if any one has got advice on this issue it would be most welcome
PLEASE IF ANY ONE CAN GIVE ME ADVICE I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE FRIDAY MORNIN, THANKS
I cant see a problem, as long as she is vaccinated she should be fine. I always caontinued with my bitches normal walkes when they were pregnant int he usual places. Im sure everything would be fine if you were to take her.
(sorry i didnt see your post sooner)
JUST AN UPDATE IF ANY ONE IS INTERESTED , RANG THE VETS THIS AM AND THEY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT UNTILL WE HAVE THE RESULTS OF MILLIES SCAN NEXT WEEK , SO NO WEEKEND AWAY FOR US!! OH AND THE KIDS HAVE GONE SO IT LOOKS LIKE A PEACEFUL WEEKEND FOR ME AND (HOPEFULLY) MUM TO BE!
I've worked my dogs up until week 5 and they've been absolutely fine, there again they are very fit as I'm sure your dog is. I have to say I wdn't have thought that there would be a problem in doing something like walking etc. as long as she was used to this when she isn't pregnant !
VET SAYS , GOING TO NEW PLACES IS NOT RECOMMEND BECAUSE OF PICKING UP INFECTIONS FROM OTHER DOGS , HE ALSO SAID THE CHANCES OF RE-ABSORBTION IS HIGHER WHEN YOU HAVE TRAVELLED TO NEW PLACES! IM NOT SURE WHAT HE SAYS IS CORRECT BUT IM NOT GOING TO TAKE ANY CHANCES! I ONLY HAVE TO WAIT TILL TUESDAY FOR THE SCAN SO NOT LONG TO WAIT THANKS FOR THE REPLY X
I agree totally with keeping a normal routine, however we lost a litter at 7 weeks (c section was needed to scoop dead pups out) as around 4-5 weeks a great big lab crashed into her and accidently killed her pups. So please be a bit careful and go walks at quiet times. Sure this was just a one off though.
