Does or has anyone ever owned an Ariston Washing machine? I bought one yesterday and just wondered if anyone has had any bad reports on them, Ive looked on www.reviewcentre.com and it lists all the washer brands except Ariston! So far im pleased with it (only done 2 loads). Damn site better than my last Bosch one so far, although in the end it was 8 yr old and started boiling all my washing, but in that 8 years i didnt have wrong thing go wrong with it. Just hope this one lasts as long.

no advice for Ariston washers, but anyone else I would advise to steer clear of Hoover! Had no end of probs with it, and the warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on!
Mine broke down and couldn't be repaired for 2 weeks as it was a "two-man" job, I asked for a temporary replacement as I live at least 15 miles from the nearest laundrette, couldn't be done.....
the rows I had with them!!! Engineer did however recommend avoiding Hoover and going with Miele! :-O

Gosh and i was gonna buy a Hoover too, and also a Servis, but my dad told me not to as he had endless problems with one!

Friend of mine just paid £1000 for a washing machine. Dont know what make as I was in total shock. I hope it does the ironing and hangs the clothes aswell.

Probably a Dyson cos me and my dad saw them last night costing that much and he said exactly the same as you about it having to dry and iron them at that price!

My husband had an Ariston washing machie when we met in 1991, it was about 2 years old then. We replaced it in 2002. That tells you something !. Hope yours lasts as long.

Thats good then, hope my new Ariston goes on and on and on :D

I can't understand people who pay £1000 for a machine .. I am not greedy with money in any way BUT 99.99% of the public use 2 cycles. so you can buy a £200 indesit for £200 that does about 8 programs with a 1200 spin .. bobs your uncle.
I have 2 indesits that have gave me no trouble , £200 each. if they break down they will get replaced at that cost. One of them is 12 years old and never been repaired . It is used daily in my grooming room/dog room for dog bedding. Never lets me down.
£1000 will pay for my machines for my lifetime ;-)

I know somebody who spent £240 on an iron !. I was so shocked. I'm sure it's wonderful but as long as my £25 Braun flattens my clothes I'm happy !.

I couldn't agree more Blue ;) I couldn't justify paying that much money for a washing machine, even if money was no object, but people must pay it otherwise there would be no point in selling machines at this price. I wonder if they get the clothes any cleaner? Has anyone got one, can you tell me? :)
I've got an old Indesit machine, think it's about 11 yrs old now, still washes ok, but I make sure that I run a limescale remover through it once a month, hasn't prooved unpredictable yet..............watch what'll happen now  But it has lasted the longest out of all of the other machines that I have had and when I come to replace it, I'll probably buy another one.
I've just bought a Zanussi vented tumble dryer, hope it's as faithful to me as the WM :) Now waiting for somebody to tell me they're c$$p........please don't <cringe>

oh Hairypooch, you will need to let us know how the dryer is going ;-)
Zanussi is generally a decent make of most things..:-)

Haiyrpooch, that's what I've got now, both washing machine and tumble dryer are Zanussi. Both (touch wood) are fine !.

Pheeew..........<BIG SIGH OF RELIEF> 2 positive votes on the Zanussi :P

I've had a Zanussi since 1988 there is actually a hole in the casing where I put the powder coz it used to be kept in the garage and its gone a bit rusty but it still works fine. I'll def get another Zanussi when it needs replacing.

I find Zanussi the best for tumble dryers and washing machines. I had my last Zanussi tumble dryer for 18 years (anyone beat that?) and happily bought another for £220 when it finally died on me. My washing machine also lasted for years (another Zanussi) but when I came to replace it, the only one with the 1600rpm spin speed was a Hotpoint. This was a couple of years ago, and no-one has been out to it yet (that's the kiss of death). :)
I have a Dyson Contrarotor, which I paid £900 for but by the time I had taken out extended warranty it was £1100, its a good washing machine, washes the clothes much better that a £200 - £300 job. I had it two years in march gone, and no-one has ever been here to put a spanner on it. So expecting the cheque in the post soon, as when I took out the extended cover for £200 if nothing went wrong with the machine it was double your money back.
Nothing has ever gone wrong with it, has so in reality I only paid £700 for it :D

I had the same warranty for my £150 tumble dryer and got my money back for my tumble dryer policy. ( hope you sent the slip away in 14 days) :-))))) to may it valid..
Mollmoo :-) Clothes that are slightly soiled you couldn't see a difference in any washing machine in my opinion I think UNLESS you are washing heavy and badly soiled stuff.. and whilst dyson has it's 9own self cleaning program.. a couple of table spoons of bleach and soda on a very hot wash does the exact same thing ;-))
The thing that bugs me is I personally wouldn't want something to last more than 10 years as it may keep working but in appearance it won't or it would look out of date. ;-)
At £200 a go you can have a nice shine machine for your whole life.. ;-)
Each to their own I guess in what the like but I personally don't like the look of the Dyson machines at all.. they it would look awful next to a lovely handpainted cream kitchen unit ;-)
Mine is plumbed in the cupboard under the stairs ;) Dont spoil the look of my kitchen :D

Think it might be a rogue one, Tessies Tracey :), my Hoover Washer/Dryer must be at least 7 years old and no problems, the previous one lasted about 10 years. My Hoover dishwasher has just packed up after 15 years and we bought it second hand!

I've got a Hotpoint and NEVER AGAIN.........absolute rubbish, nothing but trouble, bought one within 3 weeks it was playing up, called in engineer.....he said it was one of the faulty batch and condemned it, said a replacement would be sent........9 weeks later it arrived........this was over the summer holidays and there are 6 of us, 4 children!!! New one finally arrived, and now thats been playing up, called the engineering he tightened something up and said if it happened again we would have to get a replacement part......so in under a year, we've had two duff Hotpoints, next time I'm going for an LG, heard nothing but good things about them plus they do a 7kg load which is what I need and they are very quiet!
God I coulnt agree more I have got a hotpoiny dishwasher which is now being replaced for the 3rd time in 6 months. Ariston washing machine and dishwasher were the best I ever had.

Same here TTS, I had a Hotpoint dishwasher and it was nothing but trouble, I ended up taking it to the council tip when it was 10 months old.........had the engineer out so many times, I just gave up, out of the 10 months I had it it wasn't working more than it was working. I was actually thinking of renting a room out to the engineer ;-)
Because im never settled, always having to move, i have a hoover washer dryer on rental. Everything comes out creased to hell, it gets to hot, everything shrinks. Roll on this move below the border when i can go buy a new one lol.

BUT HAS ANYONE GOT OR HAD AN ARISTON?? :(
Sorry Minni, i havent heard of Ariston since the silly advert about 10 years ago lol.
read my reply above I have said they are excellent wish I still had one

Oh yeah, DOH! Thanks xxxx Much happier now :)

When I left the dreaded EX i didn't have a washing machine as I knew my Dad had a spare in storage. My Dad moved house after my Mum died and the house he bought had a washing machine it it. The Ariston Machine i inherited so to speak was my Mums and she bought it new when I was 17. It sat in storage between 2001 and 2003. I got it plumbed in and had no problems until late last year when the poor thing finally gave up the ghost. Not bad really considering I am now 32.

I'm on my second LG 7kg load - had the first 5 years and it was replaced FOC on my household appliance insurance......

Think you might be right Isabel, my mum's lasted for at least 8 years, and that was after having been completely abused by my teenage brother!!

Hi,
With 5 children we have Miele dishwasher and Tumble dryer and saving for their washing machine .There products are expensive but most definately built to last.
For me multiple washing programmes are a must with 5 children,2 adults and 4 dogs 2 cycles definately would not do.
Having tried most other makes and not impressed,Miele for us offers best value for money, service.
Hotpoint absolute rubbish and found Zanussi slightly better than Bosch for washing machines and dishwsher.I dont rate my animal Dyson much either £300 preferring some of the American models.
I wont have anything else other than Miele now just mu opinion :-)

To be honest if I had to pay big bucks I would invest in 2 american side by side top loaders washer and dryer. you can buy them just now for about £1200 for the pair. 2-3 loads in one load of theirs.. that would be my only upgrade for the extra time to myself ;-)))

Yes me. I've got an Ariston Margherita, had it for 2 years and no problems so far, well except when I set up the timer instead of the wash programme and wondered why nothing happened for 12 hours !!!!!
I bought it cos it was a Manager's Bargain & dirt cheap when my old machine had just broke down on a sunday morning leaving me with a kitchen full of dirty washing so needed to get whatever was avaialable that I could bring home immediately
It washes well, got no complaints so far.

Hi,
Miele do toploaders also if you like that option would not do in my kitchen/utility,Miele also have pc upgrades so your machines can be updated as necessary amd all their appliances canbe intergratedto match your kiten units/doors..
At present ill just making do with my Zaussi washing machine until i've saved up enough may take some time but then you seem to appeciate things i think so much more when u had to save hard for them ;-)
