or so Ive been told to take a short haired pup out for a trot this time of year? Why do people keep putting doubt in other peoples minds? Im certainly not going to put a coat on the little fella, he would be moked, by his fellow K9s.
I have been taking my 8 week old short haired pup outside while trying to house train him, and sometimes he doesn't want to come in. I asked the breeder if this was O.k and she said he will let me know if he is cold. Wouldn't leave him out too long though, just enough to go toilet and have a bit of fun.
I cannot see any reason why you cannot let him in the garden. He'll run back in if hes too cold. I have the problem of actually getting mine in with weather like this, they love snow!!! lol
Totally agree. I think alot of people molly coddle them too much dont forget they are dogs afterall.
Totally agree with you Sharonb, they are dogs. I've never seen any of mine shivering or complaining, Pom's or Spanish. My Spanish have started swimming again inthe last 2 weeks and they loved being outside again in the water and then having a good run round.
Yes ther are some breeds that you've got to be careful with, but not that many!
Our Staff doesnt like the cold at all. When we put her out the garden for a toilet, you can tell if she wants to come back in because she sprints to the french doors and sits there looking like an orphan, we get the point though! This morning at 6.00am it was really freezing and she sprinted from one side of the garden to the other, she wees on one side and poos on the other, and then ran to the door no hanging about this morning!

My staffie also hates cold but she hates the rain more.
I cant get her to go for a walk if it is raining & I have to shut her outside untill she has done a wee or she will sneak in & do it in the house :-(

they have a reputation for not liking the cold or rain . Giorgia doesnt mind the rain or cold if she's going on a walk but then wont go quite as far as usual ! And she shivers and shakes

My boxer used to curl up in such a tight ball. under my bed, in the mornings that I could never put his collar on for our 5.30am walk.
Giorgia's the same, in the morning when we get up early as we go for a run, there's a lump in the bed and you have to gently encourage her to wake up to go downstairs to go to the loo.

Lol, if I managed to get Mr B down stairs it would be a right struggle to get him out of the door. Pulling from the front and shoving from the back. Keen he was not.
Cant keep mine inside whatever the weather. Can understand it with the Sibes but not the Akita. On cold nights I like her inside but she wont stay for long, shes out in her kennel and wont budge no matter what.
