As this is the most active board lately, im posting on here. Im about to go to town and Asda and just discovered my dog has worms. Just wondering does anyone know where is the cheapest to buy them, that actually work?? Im out in about 10 mins so quick answers would be VERY MUCH appreciated, thanks :)

1 hour later :( - sorry!!

Beest bet is to buy them on line - www.canine.chemist.co.uk isn't bad - shop ones are really a waste of money - better to buy a packet of pumpkin seeds, soak them in water overnight & mix with food next morning - seem to work!

Margot, your time looks OK to me!!  Are you still on GMT???
- By ali-t [gb] Date 07.04.05 14:09 UTC
Hi Margot, how do the pumpkin seeds work?  Is it a one off worming treatment or do you regularly add them to the dogs food?  I remember reading on here a while back that pumpkin flesh is good for dogs with upset stomachs but as I can only ever find it in the shops at halloween, would seeds be a good alternative for an upset stomach?

Don't waste your money on worming tablets from supermarkets or pet shops.  Buy Drontal either from your Vet or online.

Think the 3 of us posted at the sametime look at the time :-))

if you want them as quick as possible then go to your vet. Drontal etc cannot be bought in local shops. Online yes but you wouldn't get them right away.

Most the the cheapy ( or not so cheapy) pet shop ones are not really worth bothering with

I think they're £1.75 or so each from Vet-Medic.

Drontal plus tablets are £1.77 from vet medic and they arrive really quickly, normally next day!

- By tohme Date 07.04.05 14:58 UTC
you can get drontal et al from Pets at Home
- By sonny [gb] Date 07.04.05 16:54 UTC
And you can get drontal from chemists which sell animal medicence's like manor pahrmacy. I pay around £7.50 for 4 tablets every 3 months

Hi - I have just searched Pets at Home for Drontal with no success.  However they were on Vet-Medic at £1.68 each if you bought 20.

I have always got my wormer from the vet when my dogs are vaccinated.  I know I am being ripped off, but didn't realise I could buy this on-line.

Question - and possibly a stupid one - does the pack include dosage instructions?

Thanks
:)
- By Isabel Date 07.04.05 20:11 UTC
Yes, a full information sheet will come with it, the dose is even reiterated on the foil packaging :)

Thanks Isabel - that's where I'll get the next lot then.......it'll save me a few bob :)
