If you get to 100 - does the Queen send you a telegram/letter thingy automatically? My G.Aunt is 100 in August and we want to make sure she gets her communication from the Queenie :D :D

No, you have to apply somewhere - I can't remember where (probably the Palace) but I'll get googling.

Someone from the pensions office gets in touch to make sure they are the right person and that they want one, some people refuse you know :)
I know this as my sister is a civil servant and this is one of her duties, I say about checking it is the right person as sometimes people have been picking up the pension of people long gone :) and she had one women who was obviously not 100 who had taken on the identity of her man's first wife no one knew what had happened to the first wife ;)

You do definitely have to apply first. The palace then contact the pensions office for verification, if a birth certificate hasn't been supplied.

You can't apply until 3 weeks before the birthday :) My aunt is 100 in July, so I looked at the web-site - but it says it in a rather roundabout way, so I hope that you read it the same as me ;) You need a copy of the birth certificate or some other info - pension details I think. Have to get her birth certificate out of the bank now :)
