After gulping down every meal up untill now my girl has refused her breakfast!
She is not due to welp untill next wednesday so would this be to early for the pups? The book of the bitch says a week early is OK, but my mum (who has yorkies) said it may be a little too early for them all to survive :-(
There are no other signs that I have noticed, she is just laid on the sofa (not even trying to pinch my sons breakfast)
I am problery just getting over exited & worrying over nothing but any advice would be great!
Thanx
Jo

1 of my bitches slowed down with her food from now on. she would eat but only a little and she went over by 5 days (from second matting). so it just might be that there is no room for her food ;) but keep trying to feed her as she does need it
I doubt that it will happen yet, but I've had litters born a week early and never had any problems..
My girl did this, the next day she ate again, they just like to keep us guessing, i would imagine she will be a while longer yet, but keep an eye on her just the same.
good luck

It has been a bit warmer also ( or where I am ;-) ) so I think between that and getting near it is perfectly normal.
My first litter 3 years ago was 7 days early, 6 puppies all born quickly and all survived. They were all reasonable weights. Also a terrier.

Thanx for asking but -
No :-(
Last night she was very restless, digging up her bed, digging up MY bed (husband went in spare room!), but then about 4 this morning she stopped & went to sleep.
She is now acting her usuall self again.
I suppose it could be a 'false labour' like us humans have somtimes :-)
Any one else had this?

My bitch did this on day 62 then stopped, however the first puppy arrived at 0120 hrs on day 63.

Thanx again all.
No more signs as yet :-(
Hope she has them soon though - she is so fat she cant get on the sofa or bed without help & she looks so sorry for herself waddling around!
She was allways so active before, jumping, running around the house, playing with the kids - all she does now is lay down.
I will let you all know when somthing happens.

Another update!!
She has just been out for a wee & started digging around then sqating as if she was trying to pooh but nothing came out!!!!
Is this OK as she has not been straining any other times ?
I called her back in & she has a stringy white discharge so I think things are moving now - but maybe not :-)
She is just laying down again - looking a bit sad but quite contented.
She will probley go a week over!!!

oh i bet your sooo excited you have me on the edge of my seat here please keep us imfomed
kerrie

The trying-to-poo bit is a sign that things are definitely moving. Shouldn't be long now!
:)
What day are we on now ?,she will want to empty her bowels before whelping, my girl went every 10 mins and tried to poo for about 4 hours !
Dont keep your eyes off her !!
Good luck

Day 59 so a little early yet.
She does seem to be trying to poo a lot! but no 'straining' - still convinced she is going to have a puppy out there :-)
Apart from being a bit restless she is ok.
I have put a note on the door for people not to knock or ring unless it is an emergancy, as there are kids at the door all the time :-(
(School holls still)
I think she may be holding on a bit untill I stop getting up to open the door!

The notes a good idea, get a take out and try and get some sleep, believe me you will need it.
Its horrible waiting isnt it, my girl whelped on day 61 from 1st mating.

At last!!!
She had 4 boys & 4 girls.
The first 1 got stuck & even after a shot of oxytocin (sp) it was still jammed in there!
Ended up with a section, but all the pups were live including the one that was stuck :-)
She is not to impressed with feeding them at the moment so I am having to top them up if they are still crying.
Why do these things allways happen out of hours?
Anyway off th puppy watch - thankyou for all your help & I will keep you up to date

Good news!! especially with the stuck one. Are you going to call him Houdini :)
Hope the feeding settles down soon.
great news and congrates to mum give her a big hug from me
kerrie

Congrats! Please try to convince mum that feeding them is the best thing, because it is. Sadly topping them up isn't necessarily the best thing to do. Human mothers' milk doesn't properly come in till about day 3, and is stimulated by the baby's complaints. So let the pups complain to encourage mum's supply. The more they demand, the more she'll make. If you stop them demanding she won't produce ...

Hi Jo,
Glad all have arrived safe and well - shame about the section for your girl's sake but I'm sure over the next few hours she'll realise who they are (probably a bit confused at first - one minute she's a little fat person and next she's got a sore tummy and lots of little squealing things around her ;) )
Enjoy puppy watching - it's got to be the most rewarding form of time wasting ever :P
Gentle {{{hugs}}} to Mum and all the babies
Teri x
