I am looking to purchase a dogue but not until the end of july, to coinside with the start of the school holidays this also gives me time to refence the garden & dog proof the house, would like a bitch, any help in matter would be welcomed

Hi Shaun.

I recommend you do your homework on this breed before buying. read the standard, see as many as you can live adults not just pups.The quality of Dogues vary considerably. Most of the reputable kennels are health testing  , make sure the parents are hipscored (Breed average at the moment is 23)when you do purchase make sure the parents have good steady temperaments.
A good breeder will interrogate you about your lifestyle,your experience with any large powerful dogs ,etc .Them that don,t i would be wary of. 

There is a Dogue de Bordeaux Club match on the 15th May, more details on the club site, this would be a good place to start looking, if you are not yet a club member you can join through the site as well Dogue de Bordeaux club of Great Britain, but I cannot do links.

I have Bordeaux and hip score, elbow x-ray, and eye test, heart testing is advisable also, make sure you find a reputable breeder as a lot of people are in it  for the cash with no backup if things go wrong.

i'd also say go along to the companion show on the 15th may,we are all quite a friendly bunch and i'm sure you'll have plenty of questions on the breed and you should find plenty of people at the show who will willingly give advice.if you'd like to join the club you'll be able to join on the day of the show
