Available in Clinton cards, price around £50 - stuffed toy!

Guest there is no such thing. The closest of course is the Shiba Inu which is a small version of the Japanese type Akita, but quite a lot different to the more commonly seen (in UK ) American type Akita.
There are of course other Spitz breeds that are smaller than Akita's msot with rather different temperaments to the Asiatic spitz (Akita's Chows, Shiba's).

I agree the only miniature Akita iv seen is a 6" one that stands on my telly, it has a miniature Rottweiler as a friend too lol
The shiba inu is the closest you will get as the other have said. If you do find a breeder, there are some on the breeder listings on this webisite, you will be in for a very long wait and will be given a good vetting. If you sdont like the idea of being interrogated over why you want this dog etc etc i would suggest you think again. People in this breed are very very careful who their dogs go to and not many are available to pet homes.
If you really were looking for a mini akita, im afraid this does not exist. I would suggest you buy some books on both the Akita and the Shiba Inu (The Akita Today by David and Janny Killilea seems to be favourite for akitas, not sure about shibas) and try to meet a few breeders and dogs int heir own homes. Only after meeting a good number of breeders, have researched the breeds sufficiently would i suggest you look to buy a dog of either breed.

Hi Thedark and thank you for your extremely sensible reply. I am a JSI owner, so am a bit protective of the breed, and I'm afraid I don't like the look of this post at all.
Cheers
