Hi - my 2 yr old lab male is biting his pads - he started about 8 months ago, we changed him to Burgess sensitive but doesn't seem to have helped. We've also are giving him evening primrose oil as he's got "dandruff" to see if that helped.
He was biting his back foot, which he's done several times, before the vet prescribed steriods and antibotics but the last time the vet bandaged it up and it healed and it seemed to stop, but he's now moved on to his front paws.
We've got a 10wk old puppy but he's as calm as anything with her. The vet said he might have developed a habit with it - please can you give some advice as to how we move forward. The cost isn't the issue, I just want him to be happy, the vet bill last time was over £120 though with antiobiotics, bandages etc. and I'm just bothered that he's being doped up on tablets and he'll develop an immunity to them.
One of our Labs used to be always biting her pads and inbetween her toes,it can be caused by numorous things ie; cleaning products that we use on floors, carpet shampoos, fields that have been sprayed even grass and boredom, try using different cleaning product on floors, dilute as much as poss. Sheila.
