The previous owners of my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel told me they used to feed him pistachio nuts. I'm a bit worried about this. Wouldn't the salt and fat be bad for him?

My dogs adore nuts. But since Samma swallows them whole without chewing, they can plug up her intestines. Chienne will chew them, but then has runs or constipation. (I have no idea about the opposites). So neither gets anything. :D I wouldn't really advise you to give them to him just because any of these things could happen.

Salt isn't really good for them. The fat, well, if a dog's at normal weight, it makes the coat shine :D They don't get cholesteral problems like we do. Lucky them ;)
Toodles

Beany ...Hudson likes Chilli nuts ;) We don't let him have many ( 1 or 2 ) and not very often , but I can see they will find their way into my bag of goodies for when we show him :D
