Maggie has been "in season" now for approx 8 weeks. It is only the occasional spotting but is this normal as previous seasons have not lasted this long. But do bitch's have a menopause? She is 71/2 yrs

I would get the vet to check her over ASAP as this is not normal at all.

I had an older bitch like this years ago the vet said then it was hormonal as the ability to switch off the season is diminished with age. he didn`t seem unduly worried and said just make sure that an infection didn`t  occur.....it never did. She wasn`t given any medication but it was over 20 years ago so thoughts on this may have changed, no harm in phoning the vet to ask does he need to see her.
