Hi there,
My labrador pup had her second vaccination today. Vet said 24 hours, and she should be fine to be let out in public places. I have read many times that a dog should be kept inside 7-10 days after second vaccination, but the vet mentioned that vaccines are constantly being updated, and 24 hours was all that was needed. I will follow the vet's advice, but would like to know from other people here how long you waited to let your dog out after second vaccination, and if it seems wise to leave it only 24 hours. Thanks for any help you can give,
Tom.

I leave it a week although vets usually say 2 weeks. Never heard of any vaccines where they are allowed out 24 hours after the vaccine though.
I think our vet said 5 days

Every vet will give different advice. A lot of vets now will advise pups are ok to go out straight after their 2nd vaccine. There is not as much parvo around as there used to be & the vaccines are constantly changing too.
Guide Dog pups are vaccinated very young & go out for early socialisation after their first jab & never have any problems (I am not suggesting you should do this with your dog - but just pointing out Guide Dogs policy)

Our vet always said they could go out 5 days after the 2nd Injection which is what we did.

My lot are always down on the floor straight after the 2nd jab, and walk out of the surgery.

I have always waited 5-7 days after 2nd vax.Give time for the vax to take hold, and you cant take any chances with a little pup.
I think we waited about 5 days with Idõ, I think the socialisation aspect is very important too, its a different world down there on the floor(!), as well as health, plus it had just snowed and I just couldn't wait any longer!

Just to add our vets always say 2 weeks but usually we would wait a week, give or take a day

Thanks for the replies everyone. I can see that the times will vary from person to person, and in the end I went with the decision of my vet and let her out after 24 hours. She had a wonderful time today, but I will still be extra careful for the next few days just to be on the safe side.
