If a job was made redundant how long is it before thay can advertise and recruit for the same role ?

I have a feeling it is 12 months ?

Thanks

My job was advertised straight away, for a lower salary, more responsibility and longer hours, following my redundancy! seems they can do this.
I took advise from CAB and the local jobcentre, who advised me it was within the law?! I had taken the redundancy, as I refused to work for less salary than I was already getting and also they expected me to go full-time, whereas I had been working a 3day week.

On the bright side I got a better job, lost a lot of weight through getting more exercise and eating less stressfully and am far happier away from my previous employers! AND in the past 6months since they made me redundant, they haven't been able to get anyone suitably qualified who will work for them, so they are struggling to meet contract deadlines :D :D serves em right!!

Same as me don't want to go back as I am in a much better job but the chap I was working for , sorry was doing his job for much of the time is recruiting it again ! He got rid of me as I was a threat I think as I knew what I was talking about an knew he was full of poop ! I was treated very badly and want to see if I have any come back. I doubt it but no harm investigating :)

It is legally 3 months and it has to be 'significantly the same'. They advertised mine 3 months and a day after they made me redundant and for more money. Have to say though I wouldnt have gone back for all the tea in china!

my oh had a simliar prob to this he was told by an employment lawyer that if the company offered you an alternative job with in the company and you didnt take it then they can advertise it but if they make you redundant and dont offer you alternative work they cant advertise youre old job for 3 months

It's 3 months because that's how long you have to put a tribunal claim in.  They will have to be able to demonstrate that it's fundamentally different from the work you carried out to be successful.
