Has your daughter had tests to determine what it is that sets off her asthma? Is it hair, or saliva, or dander? That's the first action to take. Most smooth-haired dogs are unsuitable for allergy sufferers because they shed quite a lot of hair. Usually the woollier breeds - the ones that need clipping -  are more suitable.

This link might help.

Has she spent time in a house with dogs before?

It may not affect her at all.

One of my daughters has ashma & dogs or cats dont start her off.

It would be wise to try & find out first rather than have to rehome the puppy (or your daughter ;-) ) in a few months

Friend of mine was in same situation and got rid of the dogs they owned on doctors advice. It turned out that the child was alergic to the carpets in the house. Would strongly urge finding out what sets the condition off prior to decicing to have or have not a dog/cat.
