Jess, my 8 month old dobe, was in a real mess last night.  She started off with terrible diarrhoea, about an hour after she had eaten her dinner (same food as usual).   I kept taking her outside and she kept trying to go to the loo, but it the only thing she was passing was almost water.   She went to the loo like this about 4 or 5 times within about an hour.  She then started stalking round the living room looking pretty grim, and promptly threw up her dinner...she was then sick about 3 more times, each time with less and less food and more bile (sorry for being so graphic at breakfast time:-)).  She managed to drink a little boiled (obviously cooled down) water and she managed to settle for an hour or so with a blanket wrapped round her and the fire on as she was shivering.  She then got up and was sick again, the water/yellow bile this time, but not a lot of it.    I managed to get her settled in her bed and left her to sleep (this was about 2.00am).  She was obviously exhausted, and she dropped off to sleep.  When I went down this morning (about 6.00am), she was rather subdued,  but did seem a little better.   There hasn't been any sick this morning, so we're not going to give her anything to eat just yet.

Bless her, she had a real time of it last night.

Any clues as to what could have caused this?   I think it's probably something she's picked up in the park as it came on pretty quickly and she did seem better once she'd got rid of everything.

Thanks for reading and sorry about the subject......;-)

Hi Josie
We had problems like this with Sam last December when he was 10 months old, he had a blockage which is quite serious, if you are in any doubt whatsoever I would take her to the vet to get her checked out. It could be nothing  but I wouldn't let it go on.
Best wishes
Ange

Hi Josie,

I have just been through the same thing with Hooch, my Rottweiller, it ended up that it was Colitis, can be serious if they get dehydrated.  If this is what it is your vet will give you antibiotics and Colitis pills, they work over night.  Hooch ended up trying to poo so hard that he was passing blood, it was scary and is painful for them so don't leave it too long.

Good luck to you and your pooch,

Laney
