One of my dogs poo's is very hard and chalk like while the other dog's poo seems normal.They are fed autarky in the morn and chicken wings in the evening with a few veggies.Once a week they get sardines or beefy bones instead of wings.Is this not enough raw or is too much for the dog with the chalkie poo's(he does have a tendancy to steal the others wings if he gets the chance.)

I would say the chalky poo's are caused by too many bones.

From experience I would say too many wings/bones. My boy does have a tendency to constipation and his are the same chalky consistency if he has too many bones. But my boy has to eat a LOT of bones before he has this. Took me a while to get the balance right ;)

I sort my boy out by giving more veg, offal and tripe :)

So basically cut him down (or feed them apart as he does steal the others wings)to see if it improves or should i feed him on his own and see if his poo returns to normal cos the other dogs are fine.Do some dogs cope better with raw than others and this maybe his problem

Forgot to ask about the tripe HPooch,do i just ask the butcher for tripe?And forgot to add that where as one dog likes a raw egg ocassionally he is not so keen,do you think this might be a factor?

All my dogs have chicken wings on a daily basis and they in themselves don't cause constipation with my lot, but if they have real meaty bones (RMB) for their other meal on the same day without any offal or veg mixed in, although my 2 girls cope ok, my boy, the big wuss :D gets constipated. Raw eggs don't affect my lot one or the other, I think each dog copes differently and it just takes time to work out who is ok with what :)

My butchers wont sell tripe to me because of the rules and regs, although they give me all of my offal, RMBs, chicken carcasses/wings ect. I buy my tripe frozen in blocks, my petshop buys it in from a wholesaler especially for me, then I just defrost it and give it to them. I used to be able to get whole fresh tripe from the abattoir and they used to love it but unfortunatly I can't get hold of it anymore :(

Thanks :) my boy gets called a big wuss too (although the OH calls him a big p@@f)Will try feeding apart and maybe give him a few more veggies to see how he goes.Will i have to wait a while for the effects to take place or will it become obvious almost instantly.

Depends how much veg he has but normally, in my case anyway, the first job of the following day gives you a good indicator, thats if you're into studying early morning poos :P Wonder if there's a name for studying it? :D

yes im into studying the poo's early morning or late evening :) i think it is a good indicator(sp) of their health :) sometimes i do think i should get out more but only sometimes :)

Whenever my lot have bones, especially a recreational bone like a Marrow bone they have chalky poos, it is perfectly normal.  the reason his are more like it is that he is getting most of the others bones, so tehy are gettingless, otherwise I would expect them to have chalky ones on the days they get bones too.

When I was a child, I thought that white poos were made by white dogs :D

theyre now back to normal, it took about 2-3 weeks though

Chalky poo's aren't necessarily a problem.  Lana always produces a stick of chalk (with ease) after a RMB poultry meal :D

When i was a child Daisy i remember picking up what i thought was a stone only for it too crumble in my hand much too the amusement of all my pals :)I remember telling people about it later on in life but the people i was telling did not beleive that dog do could ever be like a little white stone as they had only ever seen great big sloppy stuff i wish i knew then about RMB as i could have won the debate.lol

Luvapug never ever give cooked bones of any sort,cooked bones can kill your dog!

My Spanish are on autarky and since they've b een eating it their poos have been chalky, whether they have bones or not.  Maybe it's the food, it never used to be like this and I've always fed them bones on and off.
