My 2 Jack Russell pups I got a few days ago have been extremely itchy since i got them. The boy pup had a few scabs on him which are slowly dissapearing.
I couldn't find any sign of fleas on them and I mentioned it to my vet when I took them for thier first jab. He could see no sign of any fleas either.
However to be sure and as they needed worming also he gave me some Stronghold which i popped on the back of thier necks on Tue morning but they are still scratching like mad and the boy when you stroke him does those sort of itchy shudders up his spine.
Anyone else had this problem or got any ideas? They are otherwise eating well and full of life.

Did your vet do any tests for mange (skin scrapes)?

No not yet as the breeder did have cats and we thought although no sign of fleas they could have been bitten or there was one or two lurking undetected that were causing a reaction.
So were treating for that really at this early stage.
I was hoping the Stronghold would have been effective by now and the itching stopped, or am i being impatient.  Stronghold was applied Tue morning.
It does say on the packet of Stronghold that as well as fleas and worming it also treats Sarcoptic mange and biting Lice.
