I hope to breed from my bitch.  I have just had the results of her score she is 4/7. I think if she is mated to a low scoring sire it will be o.k.  I would be glad of anyones comments on this.

there is a lot more to a good Labrador than a respectable pair of hips.  the breed has the highest regitration figures of all breeds, and more of them registered than all the other breeds put together.  Therre is a huge rescue problem, so anyone contemplating adding to the numbers neds to have a really good reason for wanting to breed from their dogs, and they need to be of the highest quality to have something to offer the breed other than more dogs.

You should ideally be working with a very expereinced reputable breeder as a mentor who will have the knowledge you lack to be able to not only assess your bitches quaslities and know those f many of her ancestors, but have the smae knowledge of the dog lines that are compatible with hers.

How were her eye tests? Remember, there's more to a dog than a pair of hips (though sound ones are very important!).

Your bitches score of 11 is good. The breed average is 15, so I'd be pleased with 11. Your right though, to look for a dog with a good low score too.

Good luck.
