The breeder should have given you a detailed diet sheet as to what to feed him, how much and how often. As for training tips, a very useful book is "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailiey (available from Amazon or 'real' bookshops), which I'm sure you'll find invaluable.

Tinned food is not a good diet for a dog...its made of mainly water. If you fot your pup from a reputable breeder then speak to them.If you didn't then I suggest you get a good quality puppy complete (eg Burns, james wellbeloved,Autarky) and feed that.
2 tins of food and some biscuits for a 12 week old pup is not enough....he should be on 3-4 meals a day and should be eating more then 2 tins.
