hi. just wondered if anyone can help?ive got an 8 month old working cocker called lolly and am thinking of doing a few obedience competitions with her at some point.we have gone to school since she was about 13 weeks and she loves every minute of it.if anyone can give me any clues as the best way to get started in competitions and any other usefull info ie best sort of age to start competitions we would be very graefull.its all just for fun but she picks up on things so fast and is so eager that its hard to keep up with her busy little head!

Hi Hayley

Take a look at the clubs on the www.obedienceuk.com site as some of these teach competitive obedience which is quite different from pet obedience.  They also have a list of schedules for various shows but it costs £3 per year for a password to download these (its worth it though).

Hope this helps

shes "old" enough to start competing, they have to be 6months,but at 8months shes still a real baby,so may or may not be able to cope.
are there any "competive " people at your club? if not which area are you in?

Hi,

I also have a Lolly! She's a boxer and by the sounds of it not so hot on obedience as your girl!

I'd say go for it! It would be worth taking her along to a show or two to get her used to the atmosphere and then just give it a go.
