how much can I expect to pay? And do the majority of vet practices offer this service?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 30.03.05 11:57 UTC
No, it's only done at a few centres in the country (plus one mobile). Details of centres can be found here - the article's dalmatian-biased, but I've seen other breeds at the mobile testing sessions (Mary Greening - contact number on link - is the organiser of those). And of course the AHT etc does a lot - whereabouts in the country are you?

Buckinghamshire, near London.

Probably the AHT in Cambridge is your closest - it's where people from Warwickshire tend to go if the mobile one isn't in the area for several months.

The AHT is actually in Newmarket JG.  Glad to know I have finally found a flaw in your otherwise brilliant memory ;)

Curses!
(I was wondering who'd be the first to spot my deliberate mistake! :o ;) :D :D )

I presume you are talking about the boxer pup you have been looking at, Emma.  I think if you are worried about his hearing you should request the breeder to test for you, I believe this is normal practice anyway.  You must be wondering if you could cope if it was deaf otherwise I guess you wouldn't be looking to test :) so I really think it needs to be done before you bring it home.  I know you would find it very upsetting if the pup had to be returned if it failed the test so better all round if it was done first.

As ever excellent advice.

I dont know my geography so dont know if this is near to you or not but Mary Greening has arranged a hearing testing session on the 4th May at Stoulton Village Hall just off the M5 junction 7 her email is Mary@Tollcross.demon.co.uk it is open to all breeds not just dalmatians so I am sure she would welcome any extras.
