Could someone please tell, what is the best time for a bitch to have another litter of pups, after she had had her 1st.

Also if it is only 7 months later, is this to soon, (as i expect it is)

Also is this is the case, could/would this be classed as puppy farming.

Also if the stud, used for the previous mating. Is owned by a quite reputable breeder, and has had her dogs used at stud on a few occasions. By the same breeder. Do you thing she would want to know / or be already aware.

And if this stud dog owner, is already aware, but is a member of the lab club. would they know or not

Thanks

She should have at least one clear season between litters, so generally that would mean a minimum 12-month gap.

1st litter was born beg sep, and the 2nd, was born 12th March,

It could well be that the stud owner wasn't aware of the previous litter.  this is way to soon for a breed with average to latrge litters.  If she had a single pup or lost her previous litter then it would be acceptable.

Back-to-back litters like that are generally very much frowned upon. If the first litter was very small (one or maybe two puppies) that didn't put a lot of stress on the bitch then maybe, sometimes it's acceptable. Otherwise, no. :(

No she had 12 pups from the 1st litter, but 1 died.

She is advertising 4 pups for sales again, from the same mum,

But the info about the previous litter has been removed and replaced with this new litter.

So how can you be sure that the mum, hadnt had litters previously. When you had been told it was her 1st litter

The kennel club list how many litters a bitch has had, her date of bir5th and date of last litter against her name on any puppy registrations in the breed records supplement.  As this info is of public record I am sure if you gave teh bitches naem you could find out haoe many litters a bitch ahs had, but the KC maximum is 6.

If I intend breeding from one of my girls again, I always leave 1 clear season in between and never let any of them have more than 3 litters!

In my own breed the code of ethics allows for only a maximum of four litters,a dn few people let have their bitches have the full four unless litters were unusually small.

I think the KC rule is so that in breeds like toys that often only have one or two pups that 6 litters would be allowed and not unreasonable but a breed with huge litters it would be needlessly many.  After all if you haven't bred something decent of the right sex for your self after the third litter then maybe you shouldn't be breeding from that bitch.
