Topic Dog Boards / Health / Litter screening MRD eye tests

Our puppies are 6 weeks old and they are all booked in to have their MRD eye tests done at 7 weeks old.  We have heard contradicting stories of whether to have them tested or not as the results are not published anyway. Peace of mind would be to know that the puppies are free of the MRD folds, but what happens if some of the pups do have folds.

As a responsible breeder you should draw up a contract of sale explaining that they pup has MRD and what the prognosis is. That way you are being fair to the puppy and to the puppy buyer. There is a lot of controversy surrounding MRD as you probably know, so I won't go into that here.
Results are published if the dogs/puppies are tested under the BVA or European eye schemes in the Breed Records Supplements. As far as I am aware it is the AHT results which are not published.

Results are published in the BRS for the BVA, European AND AHT eye tests (see No 1346, AE3/2).
