Hi, I'm a new puppy owner and a bit worried about my cross Jack Russell/miniature poodle. He's only eight weeks old and has just been for his first vaccine at about 3pm today.
I got in from work and he was sat on my son's knee and just looked up at me. No reaction at all apart from a really sad face! He's been squealing out in pain, louder than I have every heard him cry and is breathing quite heavily. He is lying on the settee and everytime anyone comes near, he really yelps and screams that loud that it is really worrying. He's constantly sleeping, breathing very fast and twitching. Is this normal or should I contact the emergency vet??!
I've not owned a pup before so have nothing to measure this reaction against!

If all these symptoms have come on since he had his vaccine then 'Yes' you should contact your vet, the twitching when sleeping is quite common in dogs, my dogs do this all the time when they are sleeping.
If you are worried ring the vet to put your mind at ease.
Sandie.
