HI all,

I have a 12 month old dogue de bordeaux which we have had since she was 6 weeks old.....she is very playful and energetic, we take her to training so she is good with other dogs, although there has never been another dog in our home.  My partner has advised me that we are getting another dogue he has seen which is 14 months old...she is apparently very calm and well socialised with other dogs.

Does anyone have experience of introducing two dogs to each other, they will meet before we decide to take the other dog but i am worried that things will change when we bring the dog into our home which is our dogs territory as such.....the problem is its a 6 hour drive to meet the other dog so there will be no time to let them get too used to each other.

Im really not sure what to do....is there anything to look out for to suggest they wont get on...apart from the obvious.

i think if both of these dogs are well trained and socialised then you wont have a problem
however i still think it wise to let the dogs meet on neutural ground andnot on your dogs territory
my advice would be to take the dogs somewhere like a near by field or wherever you take your dog a walk then introduce them
after all is well take them back to your house
i think another thing is your new dog must understand who the alpha leader is (you) and that he or she must know she is the bottom of the pack like when it comes to dinner time give your previous dog their dinner first.
just simple things like that so they both know where they stand :)
