i was just thinking about my beautiful german shorthaired pointer we had a few years ago and she used to smile when she was getting fussed, it was so lovely to know that she loved us and that smile was extra special, i was reading that dalmations also do this.. i didn't know it was common i thought it was just our dog.. do other breads do this.. or if your dog bread can do somthing special i would love to know.. although i know that all dogs are special.. thanks sue x

Dalmatians love to smile although when I first got mine I didnt realise and thought it was a bad moment.  Must say she nearly frightened a puppy owner to death when she came in smiling at them.

Gosh is it known that dalmations smile, as my brothers dalmations smiles when we go to "his" house! It is so amazing to see - A grin as wide as the Mersey Tunnel!

Our first dog, a x-breed used to smile at us.  The first morning we had her, she got on the bed and gave me a huge grin, I thought she was going to bite me!!  I soon realised that it was a smile!  We now have a Groenendael who does the same, It's lovely!  We also have a Staffy that gives us the usual big Staffy smile!

My youngest 3 all to it at times :D  A freinds now long dead Tervuerne used to do it whule moving his head from side to side like a snake.  It was quite mesmeric, and he didn it to order when you said Jethro Smile!

Just wondering... do dogs smile naturally or do they mimmick it from owners that grin with their teeth?!

We used to have a tri Rough Collie, Kizzy, years ago and she used to smile.  Goldie our Pomeranian who passed away a few weeks ago also smiled.  Anton my youngest Spanish Water Dog occasionally does his Elvis Presley impression but that's when he's in a mood and his minds whizzing and one lip curls up a bit, he looks so funny :d
