If the breeder has an affix (ie a kennel name which appears at the beginning of the dog's name) that cannot be removed. You can also only change the name within three months of registration and only then if the dog has never been shown under the registered name.

We did it with one of ours under the "breeder did not specify the name requested etc" clause. It cost us though and the breeder thought we were bonkers paying to get the name changed, but we really didn't like the name he had given our boy :D It was very straightforward though and the name change came through quickly :)

Can a name with an affix be changed?
If so would it be the whole lot or would the affix still have to stay?
People pay a lot of money for an affix & think it would be unfair if the new owners could just do away with the affix.
I knew you can change a dogs name to add an affix but did not know you could change the whole lot!

Hi Tenno staffs
No, the affix can't be changed, just the chosen name bit :)

Thankyou - I would of thought it was pointless paying out each year for an affix if it could be removed!
I am lucky in having a joint affix with my mum who does not breed anymore - as it is a lifetime one I only had to pay once, but I beleve most people have to pay a yearly fee?
The only disadvantage is that all the dogs have to be registed in her name also - not a problem to me though.
