hi its me again, my newfy puppy who is only 18 weeks old wont eat three meals a day, she sometimes eats two but never three. she is also a fussy eater and i never leave her food bowl down. once fed i remove the bowl after an hour.
i never had this problem before. i feed her a ceral in the morning or scrambled eggs, then redmills leader and chicken at dinner time, and supper time she has a rice dish with fish followed by biscuits. she will eat the biscuits but nine times out of ten leaves the rice and fish and cereal.
She is the ideal weight the vet said and not to worry he said to try and introduce her to fruit and veg as well. She will eat an apples but hates veg. i have liquidized the veg in her food but she is sick after her meal or has diarrohea.
she loves cheese bu the vet said to much dairy products is bad for a dog as they are hard to digest. otherwise she is fit and health and certianly a happy dog.
any suggestions please
Hilary,
I have a St Bernard and when she was a puppy at that age she had three meals a day, she wld eat three meals happily. Maybe your portions are too big?Small meals a few times a day was what my breeder told me.I was following orders of an egg and Euk three times a day. Then as she got older, I stopped the egg and started feeding her fish, chicken and mince. she was feed twice a day from about 8 months?
Hope this helps.
Karlai
hi karlai i have a bloodhound and another newfoundland puppy aged 9 months, in the past i have had German shepherds, i give the same portions as i have all my other dogs, even if i hand feed her little bits at a time she just walks away. i have tried feeding her on her own, with the other newfy. He is on adult food now as he is very big boned, and she will eat his food occasionally but she has a loose stool or sickness so i believe it is to rich for her.
i will try the EUK and an egg three times a day smaller portions. may be she has just gone of the food dhe has which is redmills leader puppy food. thanks Karlai

Hi Hilary,
You say she has gone off the cereal meals, you may find if you replace these with real foods a dog of her age needs such as meat you may see a change in her appetite :) In the morning you could give her some mince with scrambled egg and for supper some tripe and biscuits. Naturediet seems to be the best commercial wet food around at the moment and i dont know of any dogs who dont love it,it is balanced and complete so you dont have to worry about mucking the balance up. I would give it a try :)
thank you rose i will anything is worth a try at the moment she has loose motion as i have introduced her to meat as well as her complete food her digestion system has to get use to it. but i will try thanks
