hi as you know from earlier i have 6 lovely pups. Last whelp at4.50pm . Monica has eaten and allowed me to clean up the bed ,plus she enjoyed a wipedown. After relaxing and feeding for 3 hours she has now begun to pant heavily again .Discharge is black and fairly liquid/heavy ,she is wlorrying her rear periodically.Do i need to observe
for moe pups ,whats going on
Well my bitch panted for almost a week after birth, even took her for an x-ray.Its normal for a bitch to pant, but if your worried ring your vet.

congrats on the pups
as the pups feed they make the uterus contract and it can be painful and that's why she is panting (its like when she was panting before she had them) and she may also be warm from lying with the pups. if you are worried then phone the vet but most bitches pant for a few days afterwards

They also pant when producing milk. You tend to notice the panting after they have fed their puppies.
agree, my puppies are 2 weeks old and mum pants all the time when feeding also get alot of heat off puppies.
