i know im a collie person, but i saw one in town yesterday & REALLY fell for it. been looking on the web abit today, & REALLY like them. ;) ;)

no experinces then? what not even one?
has anyone ever met any walking &let them play with their dogs or ANYTHING??????
- By Brainless [gb] Date 25.03.05 10:38 UTC
I have and they seem pretty bright but stubborn.  Again the Tibettan Terriers seem to ahve the attitude you would like and are longer legged.  I think there are a lot of TT crosses that act in TV ads and shows.

If your thinking Obedience wise I know that tibetan Terriers are very clever, larger similar coat.
- By michelled [gb] Date 25.03.05 10:43 UTC
yes i know alot of tt that do it. im not really thinking of a dog for obedience, just a pet dog (maybe show),but i couldnt cope with anything totally untrainable!!!! i like TTs alot, but id be too tempted to try to compete with one, which is not what i want. really like the lhasas!!!!!

I have a friend who has until very recently had 2 lhasa's. Her eldest has died, at the age of 12. They are very much lap dogs from what I have seen. They love their home comforts, and love the warmth (despite coming from Tibet!!).

I dont think that until later on in life either suffered from any health problems. The eldest had diabetes.

I get the impression that they are not great walkers - but this could just be these 2 lhasa's.

They are regularly trimmed, but other than that I get the impression that they are lovely little dogs.

thats what i want a lap dog!! ive found out that PRA is a problem, but thats fine because as its a problem they are testing for.

I like the tibetan Spanile Better, but I have never been into shaggy only furry.

I still think that you might find it frustrating to won a very lap dog kind of dog and woudl be happier if you could do both show and some fun training one, like the TTs :D

i havent really the "time" to train anything else for obedience at the moment,as i want to put all my training attentions into flynn. & of cousre if i was going to get something else to compete id get another collie.

still even a  pet dog would not be right for now, maybe after the summer? sigh....im broody!

I wouod contact the breed club and ask for a local breeders details so you could visit them in their own home and arrange to go for a wlak with them to see what they are like.  Even better if they can put you in touch wityh pet owners too.  Seeing both should give you an idea of what they are like to live with, and is what I try to do with people looking into my breed, have even been known to send people to Bryony :D

thanks peter.will do.

would they be able to put up with bordercollies do you think?

Hi

My dogs mix well with all breeds, large or small.

I enjoy exercising them on the beach, parks and local dunes. They are a vey active breed, not wimpy at all. My dogs would hunt if allowed to do so ! they enjoy chasing birds on the water line of the beach. Just a nightmare with the coated ones !

what a super web site. i will have a good nose around later!

they look really nice dogs. what i want is a fun loving, cheeky (but trainable)bit naughty, clever dog.

the coats look fantastic but abit daunting. what would be the coat care, per day/week?
- By channisle [je] Date 25.03.05 16:49 UTC
Hi

The show ones I bath once, every five to seven days ! dont groom in between. You really need to change face bands etc every other day !

Its not that bad really !

Hi i have a lhasa apso she is 1 yr old very clever wee dog love her home comforts and loves to play with my little girl and her friends they crave human company she doesnt like to be left on her own for too long, but i do have one problem she casts hair all the time so im wondering if anyone can tell me why as i know others with lhasa's and they say that their dogs dont shed hair at all its not a big problem for me as she is muched loved but it would be good to know why my wee lhasa sheds so much. And for anyone who is thinking of getting one i would recommend it they're great wee dogs.
- By michelled [gb] Date 27.03.05 12:07 UTC

- By nicholaking [gb] Date 27.03.05 12:10 UTC
Yes she has just had a season and a phantom pregnancy also, she has shed hair from the day we got her dont get me wrong she has a lovely coat all white with little tan patches, sheis a very loving wee dog has to be groomed every day to stop the undercoat from matting is there anyway ypu can send pictures through this forum and u can see her for yourself.
- By michelled [gb] Date 27.03.05 12:13 UTC
not on here but if you click on my name you can send them to my email addy, i "expect" its because of her season & phantom, alot of bitches of all breeds do this. however im only interested in lhasas & have no idea if its as common in them as other breeds. ;)
- By nicholaking [gb] Date 27.03.05 12:50 UTC

Hi!

Our 2 yr old lhasa Charlie is an absolute darling - very much a great big dog in a little package!!  Although he does like his home comforts (particualrly the couch :)), he is quite happy on looooong walks, and can run my sis's lab into the ground :D

Charlie suffers from excaema, which is now diet controlled, but other than that is a happy and healthy little man.  We know two other Lhasa's locally, and they've both got cracking personalities too :)
