with the summer months coming I just wondered whether dogs can get malignant melanomas and if so do they look the same and present the same as human melanoma does ie raised, dark, pigmented, itchy, bleeding etc?

Skin cancer is as prevalent in dogs as it is in humans!
The symptoms and appearance of the disease are also very similar ro the human condition. There are hundreds of articles on the internet covering this topic, just type a relevant phrase into a search-engine.

If you are concerned about cancer, the first thing you must do is strengthen your pet's immune system. Read this: http://www.first4pets.co.uk/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?pg=cancer_report

They most certainly can get skin cancer. Finding it early and sorting it can prolong the dogs life. I hope this is a query, not that you have found something?

my friend has a very "white" collie & she puts alot of sunblock on her ears & nose in the summer . lots of white cats get cancer on their ears dont they & then have to have them chopped off poor things
