border collie puppy keeps snapping at everyones hands, she bites really hard bit my 4 year old earlier today and has just bitten hubby really hard on the finger. weve tried saying NO and ignoring her but when we ignore her she just starts to yap and dance around and try to get our attention would getting up and shutting her in the room until she calms down be a good idea? i need a way of teaching her that biting is not allowed she is getting big and im worried she will gharm one of the kids not intentionally tho

use the search facility on this site and type in Puppy biting or Puppy Mouthing and you will find lots and lots of posts and methods of dealing with this most common of problems.  It is how puppies interact with each other when they play.  The pup has no idea what no means.  Immiediately ceasing interaction and ignoring her is the way to deal with it, but only for a few minutes, then play gnele games and fuss ehr no rough and tumble or runnign about with the kids as this will escite her to much and she will nip more.

Bless her shes a collie......shes herding you! Collies are lovely but they dont make the best pets because of their very strong working instinct. Get to training classes, when older try agility, make lots of games up that use the collies busy brain. keep the kids quiet when round her, no running off with pup chasing or tuggy games. Mind when other kids come over, in a ruff and tumble she may think her(your) kids are being hurt and try to get yours out, or round up the other kids off them. Which to an outsider may look like shes attacking them. Collies are loving, loyal dogs but so very active, mentally and physically.
