Hello I have a pug bitch that was mated on the 10th of Feb & again on the 12th,I have taken her for two scans one on day 30 where the vet thought he could see three pups & also felt her & said she felt in pup, & the next scan was after 40 days when the vet said he could see no pups nor feel any. I am now not sure what to think, she is a little fatter but that is all would she definatley be showing more definate signs by now, I would be gratefull for any advice.

Scanning seems to be notoriously unreliable. If I were you I'd wait patiently for the due date, and observe this bitch carefully, make sure your vet is aware of the date and possible need for intervention. As long as the bitch is happy and behaving normally, I'd wait and see.

I never scan because I hear this sooo many times.  I let nature run it's course and in over 20 year have never had any problems.  Have been to a vets the day before a dog whelped and was told that she definitely wasn't in pup, the next day there were 5 pups, wouldn't mind but for the breed that was a massive litter as they usually only have 1's and 2's in the litter.
