I have a 24 lb male Bichon and a 12 lb female. The female is in her second heat and is 15 months. Is it safe to breed two of such different sizes?

Why do you want to breed her anyway at only 15mth- on PURPOSE?????????????

Apart from their obvious incompatability which could lead to difficulties with welping together with her age, one or other of them must be way off the breed standard (not sure which) and therefore would not be suitable for breeding anyway.

The dog is way above standard, the bitch sounds about right.

Guest! You should only contemplate breeding if you have two excellent examples of the breed, and from what you say the male certainly can't be, unless he is grossly overweight, which would not make him a stud prospect.

I sugest you look at the pages on the following sites: http://www.akc.org/breederedu/responsible_breeding.cfm and http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeding.html

A site that gives you an idea what canhappen in a hypothetical breeding scenario http://www.bluegrace.com/virtualbreeding.html
