If you bought you boy from a reputable breeder may i suggest you get in contact with them for advise.
there are lots of health issues to consider your dog will need to be hip scored ,eye tested, and possibly more test which are specific to his breed.
be prepared for a change in his temperament he may become more dominant and rather "randy"
added to this when looking for a stud people tend to want to use a dog who has proved his worth in the ring or the field so it is a good idea to take him to some shows and see what others think to your boy.
I aslo reccomend you do as much research into his pedigree as possible try to find out what faults his ancestors had .
The main point is to take advice from the breeders/ breed clubs
