not even i have mastered smileys and i've been round a few months at least, im sure breeding costs a bomb id love to breed one day but it would be so hard if i lost a bitch or a puppy died id be heart broken and money cant mend that, even bitches being in season can cuse infections and vet bills as we found out with Cassie before. Also as for the breeds with alot of heath problems at least the breeders are testing for these and only using dogs that are clear or have a good result to try and de-crease the number of dogs with these problems. anyway enough said by me its doggie walking time!

Ive been here over a year and still cant do the smiley thing.

Anyway I digress, if there was money in breeding, we would all be doing it, instead of going into the office.

I dont think its just the vet costs, shows, stud fee, its also the human time. Some breeders do not leave the side of there beloved dog (not a breeding machine)for a few weeks. They dont get lunch breaks or weekends off its a 24 hours, 7 day a week passion (job).

(I think Ive forgotten the original question, sorry. Friday moment)

<I breed dogs and have never once had to have a bitch to the vet and Ive bred quite a few litters, all have been delivered with no problems.>

Be patient, if you breed enough litters your time will come and probably when you least expect it, or can afford it!

I get the impression the OP has bred more litters than most. And after all, he/she may have different ideas to most of us as to when a vet is necessary, as obviously health tests and checks are not on the priorities list, and most other things seem to come under DIY
