Sorry to hear about your floor. :( I know exactly how you
feel. Two years ago I had a bitch in pup and she scrapped
a hole in my lounge carpet of about a metre round. I
was so upset. I could not even put it together as it was
in little pieces. Luckily I had alittle left over hidden away
from when it was fitted and matched it up. But it was
never the same. So I learned not to trust dogs and carpets
ever again. My one bitch had a phantom pregnancy and
started on the carpet two weeks ago, thankfully she is
over that now. You are also right insurance companys do
not cover dogs scrapping up carpets etc.

Hi, bad luck. My lab used to have phantoms and ate her way through two armchairs and a sofa in her time! We didn't have contents insurance then, nor was she insured. Did you mean the contents insurers wouldn't pay out or is it Barney's doggy insurance company? I thought dog insurance paid out for damage done, but I dont insure my dogs so I am probably not very well informed. If there is a next time blame it on the kids!!

Dog insurance tends to pay for damage done in other people's homes but not in your own home.

Maverick made it to 18 months without eating anything she shouldn't have done. Then she broke her good record by eating 2 parts of my new trousers - wore once, got muddy put out for washing and she got there first.
Followed this up by trying to eat the door mat and a towel - I hope she is not coming into season as she's not due for another 2 or three months!

Just thinking about this insurance business. My crew are 3rd party insured 16 ways from Christmas - household insurance, insurance from assorted breed club memberships etc, and the younger ones also have PetPlan insurance (I change my mind about health insurance every few years :-). Sometimes when its been an 'average' period at the vets I decide not to bother, then I get hit hard for a while and use it again.)
Anyway, I've read that if you make a 3rd party claim, only the first insurace policy plan applies, and I haven't a clue which that might be in the case of any individual dog. Anyone know more?
