The ones that do breed obviously think long and carefully about it ( the reputable ones i mean ) so hyperthetically speaking you've choosen your stud and planning for the litter ahead when you realize that your bitch is due for her booster injection whilst still pregnant, What do you do ? Leave it untill the pups have been sold or let her have it before she comes in season?
Myself and a few friends were talking in general and this qustion came up, i personally would speak to the vet 1st then make a decision afterwards.Whats your opinions and has this dialema ever happened to anyone?
Ella.x.
I had this problem and was told to wait until after she had weened the pups.

I don't vaccinate during pregnancy either.........I was told the same as TTS, wait until pups are weaned

I would and have waited till the pups have gone. Live vaccine can be "shed" so I wouldnt have any of my dogs boostered with an in whelp bitch in the house.
I was told to wait until after weaning too, then the vet told me she'd have to have the course again as she was 'overdue'!
surely thats just another way of vets getting money out of you? (poppynurse)
i would always leave it until after the pups have been weaned and if I knew it was due then I would vaccinate about a month before the mating was due to take place

I would not booster from within a month before mating till after weaning

I had the same decision to make and decided to leave it - I would certainly not booster early, or risk it once the mating has taken place.

No, never, never risk a booster when the bitch is either in whelp or in contact with unvaccinated puppies.

Don't have my adults boostered anyway - it's too risky!! They have their puppy jabs and a booster at one year old and that's it! Never had a problem in 20 years.
We don't vacinate at all. All our animals are treated homoeopathically. We have had No problems at all. All our animals are fit, healthy and strong. They are fed on a natual diet, plenty of fresh fruit and veg. All our puppies are given nosodes before they leave us and the new owners are given all the relevent information and nosodes to carry on if they wish. Our puppies are all fit, plump and healthy when they leave. They are checked over by the vet and are B.A.E.R. tested.
I have seen the problems vacines can cause and the damage they do. I would sooner stick to natural methods.
Those of you who dont vacinate after a year, have you ever had a problem with training classes etc i have heard the boosters are pointless but my dog trainings check my vacination certificate

no never had a problem,at any training or any shows. you should ask your club on its policy
No, we have never had any problems attending Ringcraft classes etc. I know that we would have a problem if we decided to use kennels etc. if we went away on holiday, but with having our girls, holidays abroad are not an option, unless our daughter stays home to look after them. I have heard that the P.D.S.A have now recognised homoepathic methods, so hopefully in time other establishments may take off their blinkers and realise that natural methods are usually the best. I read a passage in a booklet from our local church and I thought how apt:
A SHORT HISTORY OF MEDICINE:
"Doctor, I have an ear ache."
2000 BC - "Here, eat this root"
1000BC - "That root is heathen, say this prayer"
1850 AD - "That prayer is superstition, drink this potion"
1940AD - "That potion is unhealthy, swallow this pill"
1985AD - " That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic"
2000AD - "That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root"

Hi ELLIE229
Well somebody after my own heart reference Herbal & Homeopathic Preparations.
Have used them for years and will carry on with for many more.
Reference the Kennels they are coming round slowly.
Some Suffolk/Norfolk way allow dogs that have been Vacc so it is getting better.
Also see an ad the other day that one of the Top Insurance companys is also paying out on Herbal & Homeopathic Treatment.
I use Vacc,Wormers,Ear Drops and if I need anything else then I have an Experinced Herbalist to talk to via e-mail or Telphone support.
Only thing I would say to people is find a good one.
