Topic Dog Boards / General / Food Bowl Stands

Hi everyone - I bought Glazby a food stand at the weekend.  He seems to prefer using this and having his bowls off the floor to eat.  Before he used to be very picky with his dinner and would always leave some.  I thought that this was because he always looked like he had difficulty in getting to the last bits in his bowl.

Since using the stand he has cleared his bowl and licked it clean every night!!

I just wanted to check, as a Boxer, should the stand be at any particular height (the stand is adjustable)?  At the moment I have it approx 12" off the floor.

it should be high enough that he can reach into it without difficulting, not standing too high, or too low.  I have 4 setters with varying height between dogs and bitches and they all have same height.

Thanks - I think it must be at the right height for him as he is eating better than ever out of it!!  I just wanted to check as I remember someone saying a while back that they can cause colic and I don't want that to happen.

I got my boys some from crufts and they are 15" high and are the perfect height for them so I would say 14" is ok for a boxer.  Mine much prefer eating and drinking from the stands too, it looks so uncomfortable when they have to bend right over to reach a bowl on the floor.
