Im puppy sitting for my mum over the Easter weekend and he has a few recall problems, such as he doesnt come back. He is an 8 month old willfull, Sheltie. Who smiles like a Cheshire cat.

i have my washing line at the ready, a 10 year old and a big secure field. Oh and liver cake.

Tips and hints welcome.

ive had the same problem with keisha, i put her on a training line with liver treats in my pocket and just walked her normally and then after a few minutes walked in the opposite direction saying in a really excitable voice keisha come, when she did come, if she didnt, i gave a little tug, and rewarded her then said ok and let the lead go long again, every now and agin I would hold her collar to so when she is finally allowed off then she wont mind me holding her collar to put her lead back on (in theory, not got 2 that bit yet).  I am now at the stage that if she doesnt come back to me, after two weeks of doing this still on the training line (not every walk, maybe every alternate day, because I do road walking with her to), i give a little tug and bring her back in, she just gets verbal praise and not a treat and before we finish the walk i make sure she has done a nice recall with the end result being the liver treat.  I have done this because when her lead comes off i will not beable to give her the little reminder.  hope this explains it ok?  good luck

Ahh, yes i know the feeling well. Trouble is Murphy (Springer, 10 months) knows the difference between the long line and being off lead. He responds so well on lead but let him off and all you see is dust! Good luck!! ;-)

Be confident, Emma you can do this ! Harvey will be putty in your hands once he realises you expect to be obeyed and he has more fun when he does as told. :)
