I mated my Jack Russel 25 days ago & this evening She discharged a large amount of very thick blood like fluid onto the carpet.  It had a very strong smell.  I will take to her to the vet in the morning, but if anyones online & can give me a bit of insight into what the problem could mean that would be great.  She's been rather slow & acting tired all day should I be really concerned.

Particularly being a large quantity and ***even more so regarding the odour***

I assume you must have an out of hours contact number for your vet?  Please telephone them *immediately* and describe exactly what you've described here along with any other signs.

It's 1-30 am here too :D (well, 1-44 am to be exact now!)  I'm only in Glasgow :)   Hopefully someone should call you back - we have 24 hour cover arranged for all the local vets in block areas and so someone is always duty - better than just on-call basis, being proper shift workers they're actually quite wide awake!  If no-one calls you back please keep trying. 

Don't want to be alarmist but it sounds serious to me  :(

Sadly it sounds very similar to when my girl aborted her litter :-(  Just get her to the vet ASAP, let us know how you get on.
