Sorry if ive spelt it wrong :( Ive just come home from having a one to one with a clarevoyant and dont quite know whether she was the real thing or just picking up on my expressions. I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced the same sort of thing, whether good or bad. She told me a lot about what has happened but also told me a lot about things that i havnt a clue about. She also said 4 names who i dont even know and not one that i do. It was my first time at doing this and i dont know what to make of her. I went in there hoping to be amazed and told myself that if i didnt come out amazed, she cant be the real thing, now i just dont know what to make of it. She recorded it for me and ive just got home to hear a load of muffled noises. I can hardly hear it (probably cos she was using a really dated recorder). I paid £30, it was a group thing, where she saw 8 of us on the night, but each one of us individually. I can make out that she was probably guessing some of the stuff but then how did she know of other things? I tried my best not to give out clues, i even took my engagement ring off but she still said that im getting married soon. Anyone???

Well I'm quite sceptical but have been to 3 over the years - mainly so that I can decide that it is rubbish. I think people do give an immense amount away without realising it though.  Twice I have been disappointed, like you, having very little said that I can really connect with, the third time however (quite recent) although I never came out thinking 'WOW', the more I thought about all she said the more I realised she had got right.  She told me a fair bit of stuff which I didn't think meant anything at the time, but then realised it did - for example she mentioned motor bikes - meant nothing to me, although I knew my uncle had a motor bike, but after my Mum told me my Dad did also.  She kept telling me my Dad was there and she gave me the name John (my Dad's name!).  she also said many things that meant alot to me - including the fact that I had been looking at a diamond ring that very day!!!

I am still not convinced, but will go to another to see what they say!

Hope you enjoyed it though!

I did enjoy it but cant help feeling peed off and i dont know why, i went in there not expecting much. I think its because i dont know what to make of it. THe only thing that has amazed me is the fact that my mum went to see a different one who told my mum that i was going to have a baby girl and meet a new partner. I have met a new partner (together 3 years now). And also the one i went to see tonight has said im going to have a baby girl. And this one also told me that ive lost a baby, which i have. I just dont understand how they can be dead right on things, then give out names who u have never heard of and say things that are nearly impossible. She said i was gonna buy a new house next year!!! Im a single mother who works part time??? And she never mentioned winning the lottery. I think that they maybe say the untrue things when they have ran out of true things to say!

I am very skeptical and very cynical. Infact, I don't believe it at all. Too many charlatans and rip off merchants about for a start - and they prey on some folk who are desperate for reassurance and I think thats incredibly cruel.

I went to one and she was great she told me things she couldnt have known she told me I would split fromboyfriend as he would cheat with a friend who had red hair(he did) she told me I would have another baby this time a girl right again plus lots of other stuff. I would go again.
Im going to have a picture of my Aura taken on Sundayso am looking forward to that.

Chloe I would have agreed with you at one time, but apart from my experiences, a clairvoyant once told my Mum she had received a cheque and told her the EXACT amount of it too!  I have wondered whether they can research the people they are seeing beforehand, but in most cases they don't even know the people's names.  I think I will have to go again simply because I still can't say definitely I do or don't believe.

I would like to say I'm fairly open minded about this subject.    Although the last one I went to (Over 2 years ago) did upset me.  She told me I had a dog 'in spirit' and went on to describe my Addison and that he was in the room with me.     I have found with 2 spiritualists I've been to they know the breed they are describing is a pedigree but don't know what it is.     Now there were no dog hairs on me, I went in someone else's car - my car wasn't there with it's car stickers to give the game away, so how did she know?

i went to a medium 2yrs ago she was accurate on loads of stuff. She told me i was going to get a fluffy puppy 8 months later we got a pup (not fluffy)she also said we have another dog (now she is fluffy) and she could see problems with her legs.she definately got things mixed up though it was the new pup that had problems with her legs infact her brain couldnt controll them had to be pts.now i didnt give her any info atall as i went in and kept my mouth shut as i wanted to see if she was atall real.how did she no my dads name not a common name (paddy)also his mothers name ,what about my twins she even told me i had twins.I must say i think she was real i came out of their feeling a bit shook up.

I watched a programme on this where they had assistants going through peoples rubbish and using sites like Friends Reunited etc.

I've also been to an audience with a medium and I newarly laughed my socks off when she was asking the mostly elderly audience that someone there knew someone called "Doris" and someone else had been clearing out cupboards recently. LOLOL

I met a psychic who did a reading - she got about 50% right - which is probably the same as I could have gotten right had I done a reading with her!

Maybe there are the rare few who do have some sort of insight - but is it communicating with the dead or just a "feeling" they get?

If its communicating with the dead - then to believe them you would need to believe in the afterlife surely?

You should have come an seen me as I am a medium. Well thats what it says in my underpants.

I am very open minded. I went to a woman about 18 months ago just out of sheer curiosity as a friend of mine was raving about her. She didn't know who I was, only my first name. She spoke of my mother and my grandfather and my brother - all dead - my youngest brother having died at a very young age, almost 30 years would be something she could not have plucked out of the air. She told me what my grandfather did (I was very close to him), She also mentioned things that were quite specific about my mother which really surprised me. She mentioned a man's name and it meant nothing to me at the time, she said I would do some work for him but it would not be a good business relationship - 18 months on and I know exactly what she meant. she is a lovely woman who is also very caring - but I am still open minded. Some people are very very perceptive.

My sister went to see Colin Fry a couple of weeks ago at the Alex in Birmingham.  She said he was absolutely rubbish.  There was NOTHING he said that couldn't be attributed to almost anybody.  In a room of hundreds, his first question was "Has anyone lost a mother figure called erm  Mary?"  About 20 people put their hands up!  Next was "tell me sweetheart, did your mom ever get a bit cross with you at times?"  DURRRR  who's mom didn't??!!  Mind you, I did say to my sister I thought he WAS psychic, because he saw her coming!  :D
Dawn.

I went to see Colin Fry just before Christmas what a load of ..............  He didn't get anything right, kept on changing things and I just couldn't believe the rubbish that he came out with.  Used to wathc his programme on TV but don't anymore.
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 19.03.05 07:00 UTC
For the record, it has been proven that people will remember the vaguely accurate things said to them RATHER than the none important ones ;)
- By Alexanders [gb] Date 19.03.05 14:50 UTC
Going through people's bins etc and doing searches about them can ONLY apply to people they know both the names and addresses of.  In my own case, the lady came to my house, but didn't know my married sister name or my mothers.

I have seen shows where a 'mindreader' has correctly guessed which card someone picked from a deck simply by asking a few questions and watching the body language and expressions of the person, so I know there is a lot of that going on with some Clairvoyants - BUT that still doesn't explain how they get some of the stuff so EXACTLY right - my dad's name for example (she could not possibly have known that and it would have had to have been a very lucky guess I feel).

Maybe - and I am just playing devils advocate - that as they sometimes say there are other spirits (not related) telling them things at the same time.  I must admit though I am still sceptical.

- By Carla Date 19.03.05 15:21 UTC
But if she came to your house she had your address - not difficult to find names from there and use the electoral role etc?
- By ChristineW Date 19.03.05 15:52 UTC
The woman who I went to see didn't ask for names anything, never prompted for information, you just sat & listened.      Work that one out?   It was my ex-manageress who booked the appointment for me & her but she never mentioned my name, where I lived etc.  so how did this woman describe Addison?
- By Carla Date 19.03.05 16:01 UTC
Like I said: Maybe there are the rare few who do have some sort of insight - but is it communicating with the dead or just a "feeling" they get?
- By michelled [gb] Date 19.03.05 16:05 UTC
my woman had "helpers" in her head telling her stuff, they could pass on messages from dead people or see into the future.really she had no control over them. they just told her what THEY wanted

Most people who hear 'voices' get put on medication ... ;)

Was't going to come in on this, but what the heck.  I visited a 'medium' about 5 years ago. Some of the things she told me were astonishing. She spoke of things my mum and I talked about when I was a child, things that no-one could ever have known.  She said my brothers (plural) was watching over me, I told her I was an only child, but she knew that my brother had died when I was a child, AND she told me my mother had a miscarriage after that and that it was a boy.  I never knew this, so asked my father about it and he said my mum lost the baby a 7months pregnant and had to go through natural birth and it was a boy. I was only about 3 at the time.  She also told me a lot of things about my husband and some were quite personal, that nobody knew about, not even my daughters. My husband had been dead for 12 years, my mother dead for 16years.  There is no possible way she could have known any of these things. There were a few other things that were mentioned and I had to ask a few people about them.  She insisted the name of my maternal Grandmother was such and such.  My mother was adopted at birth and after some research I discovered this name belonged to my mothers birth mother, even my father did not know this.

But on a lighter note, she did tell me I would never marry again, true, but that I would have a fling :D :D ,   still waiting lol :D :D  I know she was wrong on that one lol
- By LJS Date 21.03.05 19:08 UTC
Kay I would write off the fling as you never know what is round the corner ;) :D

I am still out with the jury on this one :)

Maybe, but there was loads of other stuff said to all 3 of us (and she couldn't possibly have any info about my Mum and sister), which was accurate.  Do agree though there are con merchants out there and some people are very gullible.

I like Kayc went to see a medium last year and I was blown away by some of the things she told me.  She told me that OH would be offered a job in peterborough (he just has been) also that I have gynae problems which I do and that I would fall pregnant this year I did also that there would be a difficult time to come this year but the timings would not work out and i would see some good from the bad experience.  This to me relates to the pregnancy, i had a miscarriage last week at 8 weeks if i had of carried the baby to term i would not have been able to get married as i marry in cyprus in september and would of been 36 weeks pregnant.  She also told me about past conversations i had with my mum that she could not have known and she described my wedding dress down to the last detail. She also described my partners personality in great detail and said he has a thing about a sweeping brush and my mum.  He used to put her sweeping brush through the letterbox on his way home or hide it from my mum.  I could go on for ages with this.  I for one was very sceptical but after this i believe some people do have a gift although i would also agree there are some con artists out there preying on vulnerable people.

Ive been to a few over the years, most have been rubbish. Only seen 1 who seemed genuine. On my first visit she told me lots about my past all about my dads death. Alot of the things she said Id forgot untill she mentioned them. She knew all about my kids personalities, the little things that Id not really discussed with other people.
The second time I saw her she knew all about my dogs being breed told me lots about them.
I do believe but can understand why people dont there are alot of rip offs out there. You just got to find the right 1.

My sister went to see someone, and she was eerily accurate.  Sister said she didn't want to know about the 'future', but was happy for any messages from loved ones.  Apparently this lady described my grandad, grandma and an old dog to a T.  The most frightening thing was when she went on to mention that she had a little girl with her in the spirit world, and that she was very insistent that my sister asked about her passing with my mum.  She also gave the names Violet and Michael, and the woman was very insistant that it was on my mum's side.  This meant nothing to my sister at the time, but on asking my mum it appears that she had an Aunty Violet, who had a son called Michael, who had a little girl that died when she was very young.  Spooky!  My sister never gave this woman even her first name, so there's no way she could have looked this information up.  My dad (who is very sceptical) said that she was a mind reader, but how could she have got that from my sister when my sister didn't know the info herself?!  I booked myself into see this same woman and was VERY disappointed.  However, it was only a week ago, so her predictions have still got some to come true!  Big career change on the cards apparently - can't see it myself!

I went to see one a few months back and was quite impressed with some bits but disappointed on the cost/time thing. It was an organised thing at a friends house and we all paid £30.  Everyone got about 25-30 minutes with her whereas I only got 15 minutes - for £30!!!!!

I'm never very interested in the "what the future holds" thing as anything can be made up - I am more interested in what they've got to say about the past as that can't be made up.

She was good - said that she could a man called Pat who had recently passed away and couldn't talk properly.  My Uncle Pat died last year and had cancer of the tongue and because of that had had his tongue removed.  We hadn't been close and therefore I hadn't really told anyone about him passing away and so I doubt that she could have heard it from anyone.

She also said that she could see a young woman who was close to my family and had passed away leaving behind a young son with his father and that they needed my support.  Now, my Sister in Law Sharon was killed in a car crash 2 years ago leaving behind my brother Nick and their 11 week old son Lewis.  About a month after my reading my brother got in touch and was looking to move back to England (he and Lewis moved to Spain after Sharon died) and needed my help to go and view properties etc.

She also came up with a load of old tosh about names I've never even heard of and a load about the future which really can't be proven as it hasn't happened yet!!

The other people at the reading were impressed - one bloke who was there had a cancerous lump (prostate) which he'd only had confirmed as cancerous the day before.  He hadn't mentioned this to anyone but it was the first thing she picked up on when he went into see her.  He came out in tears!!

I wouldn't go again - I'd rather have the £30 and go shop than to spend it on someone telling me about things that have already happened and what might happen!!
